Barth connected on his two extra point attempts Sunday against the Texans.
EDGE Analysis
Barth had both of his scoring opportunities in the first half, but the Bears' offense was stymied the rest of the way, and he was unable to get on the field for a field goal attempt. Although they faced a very difficult opponent, it wouldn't appear as if a big scoring season is in his immediate future. He'll likely be a bye week fill-in at best.

Barth signed a contract with the Bears on Monday, Brad Briggs of the Chicago Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Barth was reportedly expected to sign with the Bears, and this announcement is more of a formality. Despite losing the kicking battle in New Orleans Barth will be one of the 32 starting kickers, though it's unlikely he has upper-end value.

The Bears are expected to sign Barth, who was released by the Saints on Saturday, Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Despite losing to Kai Forbath in a preseason battle, Barth is positioned to enter Week 1 with one of the 32 starting kicking jobs. The Bears are releasing long-time kicker Robbie Gould, who was often useful for fantasy purposes despite being attached to mediocre and sub-par offenses. Barth may be worth a look for the kicker-needy, but he's unlikely to emerge as a high-end option.

After four preseason games, it's still unclear Barth or Kai Forbath will enter the season as the Saints' Week 1 starting kicker, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune.
EDGE Analysis
Both Barth and Forbath had only limited opportunities in preseason exhibitions. Forbath, the Saints' kicker for 10 games in 2015, was 3-for-4 on field goals, missing a 50-yarder in the preseason opener in New England. Barth was 2-for-2, but he didn't have a chance to make a 50-yarder as his longest attempt was from 40. Each kicker made his only extra point, and both were solid on kickoffs. Perhaps the team feels more comfortable with the incumbent Forbath, but it would also be hard to cut a guy like Barth considering he didn't miss. The Saints will have difficult decision to make when rosters are due this Saturday, and all fantasy owners can really do is take a wait-and-see approach.

The kicking competition between Barth and Kai Forbath is still "dead even," according to Mike Triplett of ESPN.com. Both players converted on their lone extra point attempts in Friday's preseason tilt against the Steelers.
EDGE Analysis
Forbath may have the edge due to his incumbent status, but Barth has been solid through training camp and the starting gig remains firmly up for grabs entering the final week of the preseason. A miss or a clutch kick in Thursday's finale would probably sway the decision either way. The winner is not likely to be a top-five fantasy kicker due to the Saints' consistently high touchdown conversion rate in the red zone but should nonetheless be an above average option.

Kai Forbath is holding off Barth for the starting kicker job, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune, but the competition is "very close and far from decided."
EDGE Analysis
Both players kicked well in Wednesday's practice, but the battle between the two veterans still remains too tight to call. Barth did not attempt a kick in the Saints' preseason opener against the Patriots last week, whereas Forbath missed badly on his only field goal attempt in the game, a 50-yarder. Barth should get an opportunity to kick in Saturday's preseason game against the Texans.

The early returns have been pretty solid for both Barth and Kai Forbath, reports the New Orleans Times-Picyune. Forbath hasn't missed a kick in camp, while Barth has missed only one, and both kickers successfully nailed their four field-goal attempts during Monday's practice.
EDGE Analysis
The reports from earlier this offseason were hardly glowing, as neither Forbath nor Barth instilled a ton of confidence in early workouts before training camp. As a result, it's nice to see both kickers off to a hot early start, though at this stage it's simply too early to call the competition. While the winner of the team's kicking duties should theoretically have some fantasy value backed by a Drew Brees-led offense, it's worth noting that Saints' kicker production has ranked 28th, 26th, and 16th over the last three seasons.

The Saints will sign Barth, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
After cutting Josh Scobee loose earlier this week, the Saints were seemingly in the market for a kicker with just Kai Forbath on the roster. An invitee at rookie minicamp last week, Barth will be tabbed to challenge Forbath, and the former's success rate in the Superdome (8-for-8 in his career) could very well aid in the competition.

Barth is expected to be released by the Buccaneers on Monday, the Tampa Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Barth's upcoming release comes after the Buccaneers selected fellow kicker Roberto Aguayo in the second round of this weekend's draft. After converting 23-of-28 field goal attempts for the Bucs last season, Barth will hope to earn a kicking job elsewhere ahead of the upcoming campaign.

Barth converted his sole field-goal attempt from a distance of 39 yards and was also successful on his sole extra-point attempt in Sunday's 38-10 loss to the Panthers.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran kicker had a quiet conclusion to the season, and turned in a very solid campaign overall after being brought in before Week 5 to replace rookie Kyle Brindza. Barth converted 23-of-28 field goal attempts, and was 3-for-5 from 50 yards and beyond. He also handled the new extra-point distance well, missing only one point-after try in 26 attempts. While his 82.1 percent accuracy equaled the second-lowest he'd posted in his career, Barth was often a valuable source of points for a rookie quarterback-led offense that sometimes struggled to finish drives in the end zone. Although presently a free agent, Barth figures to be brought back as the incumbent starter for training camp in 2016.
