Thompson said his injured foot feels better Monday, but he's still waiting on his MRI results, Craig Hoffman of 106-7 The Fan Washington reports.
EDGE Analysis
Thompson was removed from Sunday's 17-16 win over Miami in the second half, finishing with three carries for 12 yards and two catches for eight yards. His absence left Wendell Smallwood to handle passing downs while Adrian Peterson continued to take most of the carries.

Thompson suffered a foot injury during Sunday's game at Miami.
EDGE Analysis
Deemed questionable to return, Thompson will finish the day with three carries for 12 yards and two receptions (on three targets) for eight yards if he's unable to do so. Without Thompson, Adrian Peterson and Wendell Smallwood are the only two running backs available to the Redskins offense.

Thompson rushed four times for 21 yards and caught five of seven targets for 17 yards in Sunday's 33-7 loss to New England.
EDGE Analysis
Thompson continues to be heavily involved as a receiver out of the backfield with Washington frequently playing from behind. He has 25 catches through five games, including at least four in every game. The Redskins might actually have the lead for most of the contest Week 6 when they take on a fellow winless team in Miami, but Thompson should be deployed as usual given his role as one of the team's top playmakers.

Thompson carried four times for four yards and caught four of five targets for 56 additional yards during Sunday's 24-3 loss to the Giants.
EDGE Analysis
Thompson led the team in targets, catches and receiving yards, though all the pass-catchers struggled to produce with Dwayne Haskins taking over under center. He didn't make much of an impact in the ground game, but he figures to remain involved as a valuable receiving option regardless of who is under center. With his team expected to trail early in next Sunday's home matchup against the Patriots, Thompson could be quite busy.

Thompson rushed seven times for 29 yards and caught four of five targets for 78 yards in Monday night's 31-15 loss to the Bears.
EDGE Analysis
Thompson's performance was highlighted by a 33-yard catch and run toward the end of the third quarter. That play helped him top 100 yards from scrimmage on the evening, which also saw him post season highs in both rushing and receiving yards. Although Adrian Peterson led the team with 12 carries, Thompson was more efficient, averaging 4.1 YPC compared to Peterson's 3.1, and remains a far superior pass-catching tailback, as he showed again Monday.

Thompson carried two times for three yards and caught five of eight targets for 48 yards during Sunday's 31-21 loss to the Cowboys.
EDGE Analysis
Although Adrian Peterson got the bulk of the early work, Thompson became a factor later in the game as the Redskins all but abandoned the run. He tied for the team lead in catches while finishing second in targets and receiving yardage. Thompson now has 12 catches for 116 yards receiving through two games, and although he's unlikely to be much of a factor as a runner, his skillset should be utilized often with his team expected to trail for much of the season.

Thompson has a new backfield mate (Adrian Peterson) after Derrius Guice underwent surgery on a torn meniscus, John Keim of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Guice came out of Sunday's loss at Philadelphia with yet another knee injury that will force a lengthy absence. According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Guice is "out indefinitely," which elevates Peterson to a familiar role. Behind Peterson, Thompson will serve his typical pass-catching role out of the backfield. In Week 1, it translated to seven receptions (on 10 targets) for 68 yards in addition to a trio of carries for 10 yards.

Thompson carried three times for 10 yards and caught seven of 10 targets for an additional 68 yards during Sunday's 32-27 loss to the Eagles.
EDGE Analysis
Thompson wasn't involved much in the early going, but as the Eagles pulled ahead he became a large part of the attack and finished with the team lead in targets. It was more of the same from Thompson, who has managed to make a significant impact as a pass catcher throughout his career, when healthy. Washington is expected to trail often this season, including next Sunday's home matchup against the Cowboys, so he could be utilized quite often for as long as he's available.

Thompson carried the ball once for -1 yard in the Redskins' second preseason game against the Bengals on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
Thompson received his only carry of the contest on the team's third offensive drive, though he was tackled for a loss. More important than than preseason production has been Thompson's health, as he does not appear hampered by previous rib and ankle injuries. Though the team added to its running back depth this offseason, Thompson should be in line for plenty of targets out of the backfield this season so long as he can remain healthy.

Thompson doesn't appear to be hampered by his prior rib or ankle injuries during minicamp, Rhiannon Walker of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Thompson said in May that he's still experiencing soreness in his surgically repaired leg, but he's reportedly looked "agile" as a receiver out of the backfield and in the slot during OTAs this spring. Meanwhile, JP Finlay of NBC Sports Washington relays that Thompson remains locked in as the third-down back for a team that wants to reserve early down work for Adrian Peterson and Derrius Guice (knee). It might be a slight surprise if Thompson approaches the 33.4 percent share of backfield snaps he held in 2017, let alone the 45.9 percent share he commanded in 2016, but he at least seems set for a role that should allow for a statistical rebound from his disappointing 2018 campaign.
