Rookie RB Chris Thompson has developed "soreness and tightness" in his surgically repaired knee and missed the Redskins' last three camp practices. It's the same left knee Thompson had reconstructed following last October's ACL tear. He's now dealing with an apparent setback. Roy Helu has meanwhile continued to separate himself as Washington's No. 2 back behind Alfred Morris.

Redskins rookie RB Chris Thompson was medically cleared for the start of camp. The fifth-round pick broke his back in an October 2011 game, and tore his left ACL last October 20. The knee recovery went right on or even ahead of schedule. A 5-foot-7, 192-pound scatback with explosive straight-line speed, Thomas is reportedly showing "great initial burst" so far at training camp practices.

Redskins rookie RB Chris Thompson (torn ACL) is "more than a month away" from receiving full clearance, but is tentatively expected to be ready for training camp. "It's something I have to be patient with," Thompson said. "But I know my time will come." A pint-sized (5-foot-7, 192 pounds) scatback, Thompson will be in the mix for third-down duties as long as he's healthy come the preseason.

Redskins agreed to terms with No. 154 overall pick RB Chris Thompson on a four-year contract. Recovering from an October ACL tear, Thompson is questionable for the beginning of training camp. Thompson is a thimble of a football player at 5-foot-7, 192 pounds, but coach Mike Shanahan believes he would have been a first- or second-round pick if not for his injury. That's because of his electric speed. Thompson could eventually make noise as a scat/third-down back, but will most likely be "redshirted" this season.

According to the Washington Post, the Redskins are "confident" fifth-round RB Chris Thompson (ACL surgery) will be ready for training camp. Per reporter Mike Jones, the 'Skins think they "got a steal" in in Thompson, whom coach Mike Shanahan believes would have been a first- or second-round pick if not for his injury. Thompson has electrifying speed, but is a pint-sized 5-foot-7, 192 pounds. He could challenge for third-down duties if he's full-go by camp, but Shanahan's assessment could be termed as "optimistic."

Redskins fifth-round RB Chris Thompson is sitting out rookie minicamp while rehabbing his torn left ACL. Thompson tore the ACL last October 20. He says he's able to "sprint and cut," but won't be full-go until training camp. Thompson will compete with Roy Helu, Jawan Jamison, and Tristan Davis for one or two spots behind Alfred Morris and Evan Royster. Thompson brings rare straight-line speed to the table.
