Thompson (ribs/knee) was limited in practice Thursday, John Keim of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Thompson is replicating precisely his practice regimen from a week ago, when he was held out due to injuries to his ribs and knee. Considering he's day-to-day, as coach Jay Gruden told Keim on Monday, Thompson's status seems to be just as murky this week. As a result, Thompson should continue to be monitored to learn if he has a chance to return Sunday against the Cowboys.

Thompson (rib/knee) was a limited practice participant Wednesday, John Keim of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Thompson was also a limited participant all last week leading up to an absence for Sunday's 23-17 win over the Panthers. Coach Jay Gruden said he views his pass-catching back as day-to-day, thus implying a return for Sunday's game against Dallas is realistic. Given the events of last week, fantasy owners would like to see Thompson log at least one full practice before he can confidently be placed in lineups. The Cowboys defense has done solid work against running backs this season, limiting the position to 3.3 yards per carry and 5.9 per target with just three touchdowns in six games.

Coach Jay Gruden considers Thompson (ribs/knee) "day-to-day," John Keim of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
During a Week 5 beatdown in New Orleans, Thompson sustained a rib injury, but not before churning out 62 yards from scrimmage on 14 touches. During Week 6 prep, a knee injury was tacked onto his list of health concerns, and he ended up being inactive this past Sunday against the Panthers. We'll get a better gauge of Thompson's health when the Redskins release their next injury report Wednesday.

Thompson (ribs/knee) is inactive for Sunday's game versus the Panthers.
EDGE Analysis
The Redskins will thus be without their top pass-catching back and No. 1 targeted player overall this season. Thompson will join Jamison Crowder (ankle) on the sideline Sunday, allowing Jordan Reed, Paul Richardson and Josh Doctson to see plenty of looks from Alex Smith.

Thompson (ribs/knee) is listed as questionable and expected to be a game-time decision Sunday against the Panthers, John Keim of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The same goes for Adrian Peterson (shoulder/knee/ankle) as well as wide receivers Jamison Crowder (ankle), Paul Richardson (shoulder/knee) and Josh Doctson (heel). The messy injury report means we'll need to keep a close eye on Washington's inactive list when it comes out around 11:30 AM ET on Sunday, but it does at least seem Thompson is on track to play after logging limited practices throughout the week. He could take on more snaps if Peterson is absent or limited, with the potential for added targets if the injuries at wide receiver prove problematic.

Thompson (ribs/knee) practiced in a limited fashion Thursday, Kareem Copeland of The Washington Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Thompson had been listed as limited Wednesday when the team only staged a walk-through session and it appears he was unable to dramatically raise his involvement in Thursday's full-pad practice. The running back's restrictions shouldn't be viewed as a major obstacle toward his availability for the Week 6 matchup with the Panthers, as the Redskins likely would have withheld him entirely from Thursday's session if there was any legitimate concern about his health. Even so, he may need to put in a full practice Friday to avoid an injury designation heading into the weekend.

Thompson (rib, knee) is listed as a limited participant on Wednesday's injury report.
EDGE Analysis
Following Monday's blowout loss in New Orleans, the Redskins held a walk-through instead of an actual practice. While the participation levels merely serve as estimates, it's a good sign the team listed Thompson as 'limited' rather than 'DNP'. The same goes for Adrian Peterson (shoulder), while wideouts Jamison Crowder (ankle) and Paul Richardson (shoulder, knee) were both labeled as non-participants. Oddly enough, Jordan Reed is Washington's only key skill-position player without any designation on the injury report. It's a situation that could lead to additional looks for Thompson in Week 6 against the Panthers, unless his own injuries turn out to be more serious than they initially appear. He was removed from Monday's loss in the fourth quarter and deemed questionable to return, but there was never any reason to bring him back with the game entirely out of reach.

Thompson suffered a rib injury and is questionable to return to Monday's contest against the Saints.
EDGE Analysis
Look for more specifics on the rib injury to emerge later this week once the Redskins return to the practice field. With Monday's game thoroughly out of hand for the Redskins, there is a good chance Thompson takes the remainder of the night off in order to prevent any further damage to his ribs.

Thompson took six carries for 17 yards and caught one of two targets for no gain in Sunday's 31-17 win over the Packers.
EDGE Analysis
Coming off back-to-back big games to start the season, Thompson showed us how low his floor can be when the Redskins win by a comfortable margin. With Adrian Peterson getting 19 carries and Alex Smith attempting just 20 passes, Thompson was only on the field for 41 percent of Washington's snaps on offense. There should be better days ahead after a Week 4 bye, particularly in Week 5 when the Redskins travel to New Orleans. Thompson still leads the team in targets (23) and catches (20), with only Peterson ahead of him in scrimmage yards (238).

Thompson rushed four times for one yard and caught 13 of 14 targets for 92 yards in Sunday's 21-9 loss to the Colts.
EDGE Analysis
No Washington running back produced more than one rushing yard in the first half, and the Redskins relied heavily on Thompson as a receiver out of the backfield as they tried to make up a deficit in this one. Owners who grabbed Thompson at a discount on draft day after last year's broken leg are reaping the benefits, especially in PPR formats. Quarterback Alex Smith's tendency to check it down plays right into Thompson's hands.
