Daniel will return to the No. 2 quarterback role Sunday against the Rams with Mitchell Trubisky (shoulder) officially cleared to start, Patrick Finley of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
The change under center was telegraphed when Trubisky, who had missed the Bears' last two games, practiced as a full participant Wednesday, then repeated that level of activity both of the next two days. While filing in for the second-year signal-caller, Daniel proved to be a competent game manager, leading the team to a 1-1 record while completing 69.7 percent of his passes for 515 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions. Daniel will stick in the backup role the rest of the season, barring any further health setbacks for Trubisky.

Daniel completed 26 of 39 passes for 285 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions in the Bears' 30-27 overtime loss to the Giants on Sunday. He also rushed four times for four yards and fumbled four times, recovering three.
EDGE Analysis
Daniel had plenty of trouble holding onto the ball, but he was once again high serviceable as a passer. The journeyman enjoyed especially impressive chemistry with Tarik Cohen, who he connected with on 12 occasions for 156 yards. Daniel connected with tight end Adam Shaheen for his one touchdown pass, but he couldn't get the Bears past their own 40-yard line on their last-chance drive in overtime. Despite the disappointing outcome Sunday, Daniel has likely helped Mitchell Trubisky (shoulder) owners who nabbed him off the wire remain afloat, although he's slated to return to backup status with the latter expected to play in Week 14 against the Rams.

Daniel will make his second straight start Sunday against the Giants with Mitchell Trubisky (shoulder) inactive for the contest, Rich Campbell of the Chicago Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Daniel's starting assignment comes as little surprise after Trubisky was listed as doubtful heading into the weekend. In his first extended regular-season outing since 2014, Daniel impressed in the Bears' Thanksgiving Day victory over the Lions, completing 27 of 37 passes for 230 yards and two touchdowns. He'll make for a palatable secondary option in two-quarterback leagues in Week 13 before likely retreating to his familiar backup role for the Bears' Week 14 game against the Rams, when it's expected that Trubisky will be ready to go.

Daniel is expected to draw his second consecutive start in Week 13's road matchup against the Giants, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
Daniel filled in admirably for the injured Mitch Trubisky (shoulder) on Thanksgiving, picking up the victory and tossing two touchdown passes along the way. While Trubisky made his return to practice Wednesday on a limited basis, the team appears in line to take a conservative approach. Given that Trubisky is back at practice and seemingly could play if the stakes were higher, Week 13 could very well be Daniel's last start of the 2018 season.

Daniel completed 27 of 37 passes for 230 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions in the Bears' 23-16 win over the Lions on Thursday. He also rushed four times for four yards and notched one reception for eight yards.
EDGE Analysis
The Bears offense didn't miss a beat with Daniel at the controls for Mitchell Trubisky (shoulder), as the journeyman notched completions to eight different pass catchers and even got in on the fun himself with one grab. Just as important, Daniel remained mistake-free and kept Chicago in the game while the defense also contributed a touchdown via a pick-six of Matthew Stafford. With 10 days until the team's Week 13 tilt against the Giants, Trubisky could well have enough time to recover to start that contest. However, if he isn't able to suit up, the team at least has to have a certain degree of confidence in Daniel's ability to captain coach Matt Nagy's offensive system once more.

The Bears have officially tabbed Daniel as their starter for Thursday's game against the Lions, a source told Adam Schefter of ESPN.
EDGE Analysis
There was never much question whether Daniel would start in Week 12 after the Bears listed top signal-caller Mitchell Trubisky (shoulder) as doubtful heading into the Thanksgiving Day matchup. Schefter's report implies that Trubisky will likely be inactive Thursday, paving the way for Daniel to make his third career NFL start while the newly signed Tyler Bray works as the backup quarterback. Trubisky's shoulder issue isn't considered significant and the expectation is that he'll be ready to reclaim starting duties Week 13 against the Giants.

Daniel is expected to start under center Thursday against the Lions with Mitchell Trubisky (shoulder) listed as doubtful for the contest, Rich Campbell of the Chicago Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 32-year-old Daniel is a 10-year NFL veteran but has just two career starts to his name, with the quarterbacks ahead of him on the depth chart typically enjoying excellent health. He'll pressed into action on a short week, however, as the Bears look to limit Trubisky's exposure to further injury. The prevailing thought is that Trubisky's shoulder issue isn't a significant one, so Daniel may be in store for a one-game run as the top signal-caller. Daniel, who has completed 51 of 78 passes for 480 yards, one touchdown and one interception over his career, is expected to function mostly as a game manager in Week 12, with the Bears likely to deploy a ground-heavy attack against Detroit's vulnerable run defense. He doesn't make for an appealing fantasy option outside of leagues that start two quarterbacks.

Daniel completed 15 of 18 pass attempts for 198 yards and two touchdowns Saturday versus the Chiefs. He also carried six times for 47 yards in the 27-20 preseason victory.
EDGE Analysis
Daniel got the start as Mitchell Trubisky was rested and led the offense remarkably well. He connected with Kevin White on a 29-yard touchdown in the first quarter and delivered a seven-yard strike to Javon Wims in the second. Daniel also led the team in rushing on the day, thanks to a 28-yard scramble and a couple of other nice gains on the ground. The journeyman backup will clearly play second fiddle to Trubisky this season, but this performance should instill a good deal of confidence in the coaching staff if he's thrust into action at any point. He'll likely play during next week's preseason finale against the Bills, but he could call it an early day if the organization decides to take a look at some of it's other quarterback prospects.

Daniel agreed to a two-year, $10 million contract with the Bears on Wednesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
Daniel will receive $7 million guaranteed in the deal, which is voidable after one year in the event the veteran quarterback wants to test the open market. Regarded as one of the better backups in the NFL since going undrafted out of Missouri in 2009, Daniel hasn't seen much action during his attempting just 78 passes over 10 seasons. He'll replace Mike Glennon as the No. 2 signal caller on the depth chart behind starter Mitchell Trubisky in Chicago, while Taysom Hill climbs the depth chart in New Orleans and is locked in as the top backup to the newly re-signed Drew Brees.

Daniel played in just one game this season but did not attempt a pass.
EDGE Analysis
Daniel signed with the Saints this offseason but did not play a meaningful snap as the backup to Drew Brees, who has missed just two games in his 12 seasons in New Orleans. Daniel is an unrestricted free agent this offseason but entering his ninth NFL season having attempted only 78 career passes, Daniel will almost certainly remain a backup with whatever team he signs.
