Daniel is on track to serve as the Bears' backup quarterback for Sunday's game against the Saints with Mitchell Trubisky (shoulder) on track to start, Stacey Dales of NFL Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
Coming off a one-game absence followed by the Bears' Week 6 bye, Trubisky carries a questionable designation into Sunday, but Dales notes that the 2017 first-round pick took all the starting reps in practice Thursday and Friday and fared well both mentally and physically. Trubisky will still wear a harness over his non-throwing shoulder for added protection, but barring any in-game setbacks, he'll take every snap while Daniel holds a clipboard. Daniel performed respectably in relief of Trubisky in Week 4 and in his Week 5 start in London, completing 44 of 60 attempts for 426 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions.

Daniel completed 22 of 30 passes for 231 yards and two touchdowns along with two interceptions in Chicago's 24-21 loss to Oakland on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
With Chicago trailing 17-0 at the half, the coaching staff was forced to call more passing plays than they might have preferred. Fortunately, Daniel locked in on Allen Robinson, who the Raiders were unable to contain, and the duo hooked up for a pair of touchdowns, salvaging Daniel's fantasy day despite getting picked off twice. Next week, the Bears will be on bye, and there's a good chance that Mitchell Trubisky will be ready to resume his starting role Week 7.

Daniel is confirmed as the starter for Sunday's game against the Raiders in London, with Mitchell Trubisky (shoulder) ruled out, Rick Morrissey of The Chicago Sun-Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Daniel did a nice job after Trubisky exited early with the injury last week, completing 73.3 percent of passes for 6.5 yards per attempt and a touchdown to lead the Bears to a 16-6 victory over the Vikings. The Week 5 matchup looks a bit easier, with Oakland allowing 8.1 YPA and the ninth-most fantasy points to quarterbacks. Daniel will be missing one of his top weapons, however, with Taylor Gabriel (concussion) ruled out for the contest.

Daniel is expected to start Sunday's game against the Raiders, Chris Emma of 670TheScore.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Daniel will draw another start in place of Mitchell Trubisky (shoulder) as the Bears travel to London to face Oakland. Trubisky is targeting a return shortly after Chicago's bye in Week 6, so it's possible that Daniel will return to the bench after Sunday's tilt. The veteran signal-caller performed admirably in his relief of Trubisky in Week 4, completing 22 of 30 passes for 195 yards and a touchdown versus Minnesota's stout defense. Still, Daniel remains off the fantasy radar in most leagues that start a single quarterback.

Daniel completed 22 of 30 passes for 195 yards and a touchdown in Chicago's 16-6 victory over the Vikings on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Daniel took over for Mitchell Trubisky, who left the game with a shoulder injury on the first drive of the contest. Daniel quickly got the Bears into the end zone on a pass to Tarik Cohen, but once the Bears were in firm control of the game throughout the second half, Daniel went into full game manager mode, which held his potential production down. When Daniel took over as the Bears' quarterback for a pair of starts in 2018, he averaged over 250 yards along with 1.5 touchdowns, and if he's pressed into action again, he should be a decent option in leagues that start two quarterbacks.

Daniel completed just three of nine passes for 21 yards and added a six-yard run in Saturday's 27-17 preseason win over the Colts.
EDGE Analysis
Daniel got the start with Mitch Trubisky sitting out, but he struggled mightily in this one. Despite the poor effort, Daniel is still the heavy favorite to hold onto the backup role over Tyler Bray, who went 11-16 with a touchdown and an interception after getting into the game.

Daniel completed 12 of 18 passes for 103 yards in the Bears 23-13 preseason loss to the Giants.
EDGE Analysis
For the second week in a row, Daniel completed at least two-thirds of his passes while third-stringer Tyler Bray completed less than half of his attempts. It's looking like there's not much competition, as Daniel is the clear favorite to be Mitchell Trubisky's backup.

Daniel competed 11-of-13 passes for 120 yards in the Bears' 23-13 loss to Carolina.
EDGE Analysis
After Mitch Trubisky played one series, Daniel finished the first half while playing with mostly backup skill-position players. He showed the same mastery of the offense that he did in a pair of starts when Trubisky was injured in 2018. He's clearly the favorite to open the season as the No. 2 quarterback, and should he be pressed into regular-season action, he'd be a potential streaming option.

Daniel is viewed as the favorite to win the Bears' No. 2 quarterback job behind returning starter Mitch Trubisky, Adam Jahns of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
With $3 million of Daniel's 2019 salary already having been guaranteed, Tyler Bray -- the only other quarterback on the 90-man roster -- is an extreme long shot to unseat Daniel for the backup gig. Financials aside, Daniel also holds a stark advantage over Bray in terms of both experience and historical efficiency.

During the 2018 season, Daniel made two starts, throwing for 515 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions.
EDGE Analysis
Daniel is signed through 2019, and after he played well in a backup role by helping the team win one of his two starts, he should continue to function as Mitchell Trubisky's backup for another year. When called upon, he had enough fantasy value to be useful in leagues that require two starting quarterbacks, and his value should be similar going forward.
