Brandon Jacobs carried the ball just seven times for just 19 yards in Sunday's win over the Eagles, but added two catches for 42 yards and a touchdown. Jacobs got behind Eagles' WLB Casey Matthews on a first-quarter screen, taking it 40 yards to the house. He had just one catch for 17 yards coming into this afternoon. Jacobs was given at least seven fewer carries than Ahmad Bradshaw for the second time in three games, as Bradshaw went for 86 yards on 15 totes. Jacobs remains a viable RB2/flex option in a large majority of formats, but Bradshaw again appears to be the Giants runner to own.

Brandon Jacobs carried the ball 16 times for 50 yards and a touchdown in Week 2 against the Rams. He also added a 17-yard reception. Jacobs did a good job of pounding the ball forward when his offensive line afforded him the opportunity, but "Thunder" wasn't able to rip off any double-digit yardage runs. His touchdown was a well-blocked 9-yard waltz into the endzone, and he saw one more carry than Ahmad Bradshaw. The two will cap each other's upside going forward as both are healthy, making Jacobs no more than a flex play in non-PPR leagues.

This comes a little less than a year after Jacobs was fined $10,000 for throwing his helmet into the stands during a loss to the Colts. Supposedly in the best shape of his career, Jacobs and Ahmad Bradshaw will be running against a Redskins' run defense that ranked in the bottom 10 of the league last season.

Brandon Jacobs insists he's never entered a season feeling as good physically as he does this year. "My body feels very good, I feel fast," Jacobs said. "Coming out of camp I've never felt as fast as I feel now. Never, ever, ever felt this good." Jacobs believes he has increased agility due to offseason work on hip flexibility. The power back is predicting more long runs this year as a result.

Brandon Jacobs was ejected from the Giants' third preseason game in the second half Monday night. Jacobs is the second Giant to be ejected from a preseason game in the last two years, joining Hakeem Nicks. The power back reeled off 51 yards on 10 carries against the Jets, bringing his preseason totals to 115 yards on 19 totes (6.05 YPC). It's more reason for the Giants to act on their promise of giving Jacobs the ball more. He'll be a solid non-PPR flex starter to open the season.

Brandon Jacobs' goal is to play another 3-4 seasons in the NFL. Jacobs' 5.6 yards per carry average last year suggests he has enough life left in his legs to do it as long as he remains in a committee attack with Ahmad Bradshaw. Now 29, Jacobs has two years left on his contract.

Giants GM Jerry Reese credits Brandon Jacobs for a more "mature" approach and "embracing his role" this season. Jacobs didn't take well to losing his lead-back job last summer. He ended up taking a paycut to keep Ahmad Bradshaw in New York this year. "He loves me, man," Bradshaw said. "I respect him more than anything for doing that." We wouldn't be shocked to see Jacobs lead the team in touchdowns as well as rushing yards this year. Bradshaw is still being drafted too high as a committee back.

Jacobs looked back to his late-season 2010 form, when he averaged 6.04 yards per carry from Week 8 on. Powerful and as fast as ever, Jacobs eluded a Major Wright tackle on a highlight-reel caliber 18-yard touchdown run in the second quarter. This will be much closer to a 50:50 backfield than it was last year. Bradshaw has been overvalued so far in fantasy drafts.

Jacobs took the ball 147 times last season, averaging a sterling 5.6 yards. It's not completely out of the question that he could see 200 carries this year, but Ahmad Bradshaw wasn't given $18 million to carry the ball less. Rotoworld has Jacobs projected to take the rock 171 times.

Coach Tom Coughlin said that Brandon Jacobs was underworked last season. Jacobs received just 147 totes but averaged an impressive 5.6 yards-per-carry. Now that he's taken a paycut and Ahmad Bradshaw is back as the starter, expecting a significantly higher workload doesn't seem very realistic no matter what Coughlin says. The 2011 Draft Guide projects 171 carries this season for Jacobs.
