NFL Network's Mike Silver reports Seahawks RCB Brandon Browner is facing an eight-game suspension for violating the league's policy on performance-enhancing drugs.
Browner was suspended four games last season for violating the PED policy. As a second-time offender, he'll get eight games. That leaves him one strike away from a one-year ban. Silver also says this will end Browner's tenure with the Seahawks. He's a free agent after the season, and the team is reportedly "done with him." For what it's worth, Browner tweeted that he's not facing a suspension: "I'm not facing suspension for PEDs, it's sad that the NFL is reporting this." We should have some clarity on the matter soon. Browner was already expected to be sidelined for another couple of weeks with a severe groin strain.

Coach Pete Carroll acknowledged that RCB Brandon Browner (groin) may not return this season and is expected to miss at least 4-6 weeks.
Browner was injured in Week 10 against the Falcons and has tissue damage in the groin area. Carroll had previously stated that Browner would be out "quite a while," but we now have a clearer picture of what Browner is dealing with. Browner is currently Pro Football Focus' No. 35 corner. His replacement opposite Richard Sherman, Walter Thurmond III, checks in at the No. 23 slot. It sounds like the Seahawks may simply be hoping to get Browner back for the playoffs.

Seahawks coach Pete Carroll acknowledged Monday RCB Brandon Browner (groin) could be shelved "quite a while."
Seattle has played stout pass defense without Browner before, but he's still a big loss. He'll be replaced by Walter Thurmond III on base downs, with Byron Maxwell playing right corner in nickel packages and Jeremy Lane moving into the dime back role. Browner is a stud press corner when healthy, but has been injured all too often in his contract season. This is likely his final year in Seattle.

Brandon Browner left Sunday's Week 10 game against the Falcons in the second quarter with a groin injury.
Browner was backpedaling and then pulled up quickly. It's a sign of a substantial pull. Walter Thurmond has come on opposite Richard Sherman.

CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reports the Seahawks are likely to lose impending free agent CBs Brandon Browner and Walter Thurmond III this offseason.
The Seahawks are very high on Jeremy Lane, and they are going to have to pay Richard Sherman and Earl Thomas, without even mentioning Russell Wilson and Russell Okung. We'd look for one of these cornerbacks to land in Jacksonville with ex-Seahawks DC Gus Bradley, who is desperate for a Dwayne Gratz bookend.

Seahawks RCB Brandon Browner (hamstring) is listed as doubtful for Week 2.
Walter Thurmond III will get another start at right corner, and move inside to the slot in nickel packages where he'll square off with Anquan Boldin. Boldin played over 40 percent of his Week 1 snaps in the slot. Byron Maxwell is filling in as Seattle's nickel back. Richard Sherman is the left corner.

Seahawks CB Brandon Browner (hamstring) was a non-particpant in Wednesday's practice.
Browner missed the season opener, but is expected to return to practice Thursday and "has a real chance to play" in Week 2. Walter Thurmond started in place of Browner last week, with Byron Maxwell playing outside in sub-packages.

Seahawks RCB Brandon Browner (hamstring) and RE Cliff Avril (hamstring) are inactive for Sunday's Week 1 opener against the Panthers.
Browner was questionable, while Avril was listed as doubtful. Look for Walter Thurmond and Jeremy Lane to fill in at corner opposite Richard Sherman. O'Brien Schofield will start in Avril's place. Also inactive for the Seahawks are LB John Lotulelei, DE Chris Clemons, T Michael Bowie, T Alvin Bailey, and DT Jordan Hill.

The Seahawks are calling RCB Brandon Browner and RE Cliff Avril "game-day decisions" for Week 1 due to hamstring injuries.
Avril has battled an assortment of injuries since the Seahawks signed him away from the Lions in March. He participated in practice on a limited basis all this week. Browner came up lame with the hamstring pull late in the week, and his status is up in the air. His backup at right corner is Walter Thurmond III.
