The Seattle Times doesn't envision the Seahawks re-signing free agent CB Brandon Browner.
Browner will be 30 before Week 1 and is facing an undetermined suspension. The Seahawks would be better off re-signing free agent CB Walter Thurmond III. Even if they let both go, Byron Maxwell proved to be a solid corner. The Seahawks also have Jeremy Lane, Tharold Simon, and DeShawn Shead in the mix.

Free agent CB Brandon Browner is expected to remain suspended for an unknown length of time to start the 2014 season.
Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, part of Browner's reinstatement settlement with the NFL included a 2014 suspension. He's already served more than 2 1/2 months of what was originally a one-year ban for marijuana news. Browner is our No. 11 corner available in free agency.

Free agent CB Brandon Browner tweeted Tuesday that he was reinstated by the NFL.
If true, it is great news for Browner. One of Browner's main concerns was his ability to negotiate with teams once free agency began on March 11, but that issue is solved with his reinstatement. Despite his off-the-field concerns, Browner is a solid corner who should find a decent market in free agency.

Suspended CB Brandon Browner plans to sue the NFL next week.
The NFL suspended Browner indefinitely in December for violating the league's substance abuse policy. Shortly after, his agent/lawyer Peter Schaffer said he was going to "sue the living daylights out of the league." That time has apparently come. Schaffer will ask the court to allow Browner to become a free agent on March 11, which would have happened had Browner not been suspended. Schaffer will also ask that Browner be allowed to practice and play until the lawsuit is resolved. Browner says the NFL continued to subject him to random drug testing even after he was cut by the Broncos in 2006 and went to the CFL. He also contends the NFLPA never notified him of the mounting penalties. There are too many details to fit into this space, but Browner is going to put up a fight. More can be read at the link below.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports Seahawks RCB Brandon Browner has been suspended indefinitely for violating the league's substance abuse policy.
Here we go again. 23 days ago, ESPN's Adam Schfter and NFL.com's Mike Silver both reported Browner was facing a lengthy suspension. The league has announced nothing to date. FOX Sports recently reported Browner turned down an offer to reduce his suspension from a one-year ban to early October 2014. Browner is clearly facing some sort of suspension, but the length remains the question. For now, he's certainly done for the rest of the 2013 season. Browner will be a free agent in March and turns 30 in August. His Seattle days are over.

Seahawks RCB Brandon Browner recently turned down an offer from the NFL to reduce his suspension from one year to early next October.
Browner must be awfully sure of himself. Currently, Browner faces a suspension that would extend through December of 2014. Had he accepted the offer, Browner would've been eligible to play after the first month or so of the 2014 regular season. Also playing a role in Browner's decision is his impending free agency, which would be far less valuable when facing a suspension. Browner's ban is for violating the league's substance abuse policy.

Seahawks RCB Brandon Browner (groin) was downgraded to "out" in Thursday's practice.
Browner raised hope that he might be ready for Week 14 by getting in a limited practice on Wednesday, but mid-week downgrades are almost always an ominous sign. Browner is highly unlikely to return against the 49ers.

Seahawks RCB Brandon Browner (groin) returned to practice Wednesday.
When Browner went down with his "serious" groin pull in Week 10, he was slapped with a 4-6 week timetable. He's ahead of schedule in his rehab, but health is not the only issue at play here. Browner, the Seahawks' No. 2 corner behind Richard Sherman, is currently appealing a one-year suspension for violating the league's substance-abuse policy. We should know the results of the appeal sometime this week.

Seahawks RCB Brandon Browner (groin) has been ruled out for Week 13.
Browner didn't practice all week with a groin injury and is currently facing a one-year suspension for violating the league's substance-abuse policy. The Seahawks don't plan to make a decision on his roster status until the results of his appeals case are revealed next week.

Appearing on Monday Night Countdown, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Seahawks RCB Brandon Browner has been suspended one year for violating the league's substance-abuse policy.
NFL Network's Mike Silver was partly right; he initially reported Browner was facing an eight-game suspension for violating the league's policy on PEDs. Silver then changed his report and said Browner was facing some sort of suspension for violating the league's substance-abuse policy. Browner has appealed the ban and is waiting to hear back from the NFL. It's a colossal blow to the Seahawks' defense. They'll now be without both Browner and CB Walter Thurmond III (four-game suspension) for at least the next four games. Thurmond III will be back for the playoffs. Browner now won't be eligible to return until Week 13 next season at the earliest. He's also set to become a free agent in the spring and has a lengthy record of violating league rules. The Seahawks reportedly have no plans to re-sign him. Browner turns 30 next August.
