The Texans and Cooks agreed to a two-year contract extension Thursday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
The move puts to bed rumors that Cooks could be on the move this offseason and locks him in with Houston through the 2024 season. Only 28 years old, he's been a member of four organizations in his eight-year career, going for at least 1,000 yards in six of the last seven seasons and surpassing the 80-catch mark four times during that span. Cooks will continue to serve as the unquestioned No. 1 option for the Texans' passing game moving forward.

Cooks was forced out of Sunday's game against the Titans with a knee injury.
EDGE Analysis
Prior to his exit from the contest, Cooks caught three of his four targets for 26 yards. With Chris Conley (knee) inactive, Nico Collins profiles as Houston's top wideout in Cooks' absence Sunday.

Cooks (illness) hauled in seven of 11 targets for 66 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 23-7 loss to San Francisco.
EDGE Analysis
Cooks returned from a one-game absence on the reserve/COVID-19 list, staying hot after posting two strong fantasy showings in his previous two contests. The veteran accounted for the majority of the receiving unit's statistics, as only one other wideout (Nico Collins) finished with more than one reception. Davis Mills has struggled at times this year, but he has clearly made an effort to get the ball into Cooks' hands, which is what the receiver's fantasy managers like to see heading into the season finale against the Titans.

Cooks (illness) was activated from the reserve/COVID-19 list Wednesday, Aaron Wilson of Sportstalk 790 Houston reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Texan's clear-cut top wideout was present for Wednesday's practice and now that he's been activated from the list, Cooks is poised to return to action Sunday against the 49ers. In the process, he should see his share of Week 17 targets from QB Davis Mills.

Cooks (illness) was present for Wednesday's practice, Brooks Kubena of the Houston Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
The same applies to kicker Ka'imi Fairbairn, which sets the stage for the duo, among others, to be officially activated from the reserve/COVID-19 list Wednesday. Cooks was unavailable for this past Sunday's 41-29 win over the Chargers.

The Texans didn't activate Cooks (illness) from the reserve/COVID-19 list ahead of Sunday's game against the Chargers, Field Yates of ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
Until Cooks clears COVID protocols, Nico Collins, Chris Conley and Phillip Dorsett are in line to see added opportunities for Houston, with Danny Amendola a candidate to contribute out of the slot and Chris Moore also possibly mixing in. Of that group, Collins has the most upside, though it will presumably take a combined effort to fill in for Cooks (who easily tops the Texans with 119 targets to date) in Week 16.

Cooks (illness) has been placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list.
EDGE Analysis
Cooks joins a lengthy list of Texans on the list in advance of Sunday's game against the Chargers. If the team's top wideout doesn't clear protocols in advance of the contest, Nico Collins, Chris Conley and Phillip Dorsett would be in line for added Week 16 snaps and targets.

Cooks brought in seven of 10 targets for 102 yards and two touchdowns in the Texans' 30-16 win over the Jaguars on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Cooks led Texans pass catchers across the board and paid big dividends from a fantasy perspective with 22- and 43-yard touchdown grabs that bookended the scoring for Houston on the afternoon. The speedy veteran leveraged his elite wheels on both scores but particularly on the latter, when he took a screen pass and outraced multiple defenders up the left sideline to the end zone. Cooks has shown very good chemistry with rookie quarterback Davis Mills in the first two games of the latter's latest starting tenure, eclipsing the century mark in each contest. The well-traveled wideout will have the opportunity to extend that streak to three when Houston hosts the Chargers in Week 16.

Cooks (back) caught eight of 11 targets for 101 yards in Sunday's 33-13 loss to Seattle.
EDGE Analysis
Cooks was inches from scoring his fourth touchdown of the season in the second quarter, but his knee came down just short of the goal line. Despite failing to score, Cooks eclipsed the 100-yard mark for the third time this season. Rookie quarterback Davis Mills topped the 300-yard mark, so Cooks' role as Houston's No. 1 wide receiver will make him an appealing Week 15 option against a Jaguars secondary that he burned for a season-high 132 yards in the season opener.

Cooks (back) is listed as active for Sunday's game against the Seahawks.
EDGE Analysis
After logging a full practice Thursday, Cooks was deemed questionable for the contest following a limited session Friday. He'll give it a go Sunday, and barring any setbacks, should remain a key passing target for the Texans, which will once again be turning to QB Davis Mills, who has taken over starting duties from Tyrod Taylor. Through 12 games to date, Cooks easily tops the team with 65 catches (on 98 targets) for 742 yards and three TDs.
