Shaheen missed Thursday's practice due to a foot injury.
EDGE Analysis
With Trey Burton tending to a calf injury, the Bears' tight end room is hurting at the moment. The team's remaining healthy options are Ben Braunecker, J.P. Holtz and Bradley Sowell.

Shaheen (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Lions.
EDGE Analysis
Shaheen is coming off an ugly performance last week against the Eagles, as he failed to catch his only target and also lost a fumble on a kickoff. The healthy scratch is a low point for the 2017 second-round pick, who has nine catches for 74 yards in eight games this season.

Shaheen was unable to haul in his only target and lost a fumble during Sunday's 22-14 loss to Philadelphia.
EDGE Analysis
After an Eagles field goal stretched the lead to eight with less than a minute remaining, Philadelphia opted to pooch the kick off only for Shaheen to attempt to recover and fumble the ball away. The former second-round pick hasn't lived up to his billing with just 249 receiving yards in two plus seasons. Shaheen is on pace to set career highs in catches and yards this season, but still hasn't had a 25-yard game in 2019. The Bears are struggling with the regression of Mitchell Trubisky and, though Detroit's 30th-ranked pass defense awaits Sunday, it's hard to see Shaheen -- or the Bears' offense generally -- turning a corner.

Shaheen was targeted twice in Chicago's 17-16 loss to the Chargers on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Shaheen was targeted twice in the end zone but neither pass had a realistic chance to be turned into a touchdown. He's averaging two targets and 12 yards per game, and he's currently not a useful fantasy option.

Shaheen caught two passes for 25 yards while securing a two-point conversion in Chicago's 36-25 loss to the Saints on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Shaheen was invisible in this contest until the game was completely out of hand in the last three minutes. During that time, he made both of his receptions along with a two-point conversion grab. He's averaging two receptions per game, and would only gain fantasy relevance if he moves into a more significant role in the offense.

Shaheen caught two passes for 13 yards in Chicago's 16-6 win over the Vikings on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Shaheen continues to see quite a bit of field time, but he's primarily a blocker who's been targeted seven times on the season, and he's currently not a player who can be counted on in fantasy lineups.

Shaheen caught one pass for seven yards in Chicago's 31-15 win over Washington on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
Shaheen is averaging two targets and 12 yards over three games. As the second option for the Bears at tight end, he's not a recommended fantasy player in redraft leagues.

Shaheen caught three passes for 24 yards in Chicago's 16-14 win over the Broncos on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
With Trey Burton still working his way back from off-season green surgery, Shaheen saw multiple targets for the second week in a row, though he had minimal fantasy impact. As Burton continues to see more playing time, expect Shaheen to see more time as a blocker while only seeing occasional targets.

Shaheen caught one pass for six yards in the Bears' 10-3 loss to the Packers on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
With Trey Burton (groin) inactive, Shaheen drew the start, but he was only targeted twice. Aside from his six-yard catch, he was thrown a pass in the red zone that the defensive back stripped loose for an incompletion. With Burton's injury unlikely to be a long-term issue, Shaheen won't carry much fantasy value until he becomes a bigger part of the offense.

Shaheen sat out Thursday's preseason contest against the Panthers.
EDGE Analysis
Although Shaheen missed time in July with a back injury, he's been back at practice since August 1, so his absence wasn't injury related. With most of the skill-position regulars sitting this game out, very little should be read into Shaheen being inactive. Going into the season, he's expected to be the No. 2 tight end, but he should see plenty of playing time because he'll be used to block often. Even though he's going undrafted in most fantasy leagues, should Trey Burton miss time, Shaheen has an athletic profile in which he could break out as a receiver as he enters his third NFL season.
