Shaheen caught one of two targets for 15 yards during Sunday's 22-12 win over the Patriots.
EDGE Analysis
Though Shaheen played 59 percent of offensive snaps with Mike Gesicki (shoulder) sidelined, it was Durham Smythe (five catches for 40 yards) who inherited most of the vacated looks. Both Shaneen and Smythe could handle expanded roles again if Gesicki misses Saturday's upcoming tilt against the Raiders.

Shaheen and Durham Smythe are likely to have expanded roles in the Dolphins' game plan Sunday against the Patriots with top tight end Mike Gesicki (shoulder) inactive for the contest.
EDGE Analysis
Both Shaheen and Smythe have fallen anywhere in between playing 35 and 60 of the offensive snaps in each the Dolphins' past three games, so the team will likely take a timeshare approach to tight end rather than either being a one-to-one replacement for Gesicki. That said, Shaheen probably profiles as the more interesting fantasy flier of the two, given the bigger-play ability he's shown as a pass catcher. He's averaging 10.3 yards per reception per his career, compared to Smythe's 8.8 YPC mark.

Shaheen hauled in one of two targets for seven yards and a touchdown during Sunday's 20-3 win over the Jets.
EDGE Analysis
Shaheen scored out of the shotgun early in the fourth quarter, but he was utilized as the No. 3 tight end behind Mike Gesicki and Durham Smythe, both of whom had more targets and offensive snaps. It's encouraging to see Shaheen's development continue in Miami, but his usage isn't yet enough to put him on the fantasy radar.

Shaheen failed to haul in his only target in Sunday's 34-31 win over the Cardinals.
EDGE Analysis
Shaheen finished third among Dolphins tight ends with a 39 percent snap share, and for the fifth time this season, he failed to secure a reception. It's worth noting that his one target was on Arizona's two-yard line, and he could get more looks this week against the Chargers if Durham Smythe (concussion) is ruled out.

Shaheen failed to haul in his only target during Sunday's 28-17 win over the Rams.
EDGE Analysis
Shaheen dealt with a shoulder issue leading up to Sunday's game, which may have played a part in his being held off the stat sheet. It's also worth noting that rookie quarterback Tua Tagovailoa only passed for 93 yards, during a contest dominated by Miami's defense and special-teams units. In any case, Shaheen normally only handles around 33 percent of offensive snaps, making him difficult to trust for fantasy purposes.

Shaheen (shoulder) is active for Sunday's game against the Rams, Josh Tolentino of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Despite being a limited participant in practices Wednesday through Friday coming off a Week 7 bye, Shaheen was able to demonstrate enough progress in his recovery from the shoulder issue for the Dolphins to sign off on him playing. He'll fill his normal role as Miami's top blocking tight end, while also offering rookie quarterback Tua Tagovailoa a sizable target in the red zone (6-foot-7, 257 pounds).

Shaheen (shoulder) is questionable for Sunday's home game against the Rams, Cameron Wolfe of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Shaheen logged a trio of limited practice sessions leading up to Sunday's game, so it looks as though he has a fair shot to take the field. If the former Bear were forced to miss any time, however, Durham Smythe would stand to handle the majority of backup reps behind Mike Gesicki.

Shaheen (shoulder) was limited in Wednesday's practice, Adam H. Beasley of the Miami Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Dolphins are coming off a Week 7 bye, so Shaheen's appearance on the injury report comes as a surprise, considering he wasn't known to have been banged up in the aftermath of a Week 6 win over the Jets. The fact that Shaheen was on the field in some capacity should be taken as a positive sign, however, making it likely that he'll be cleared to play Sunday against the Rams. The 26-year-old has scored in back-to-back games, and he appears to have clearly usurped Durham Smythe on the depth chart at tight end, which was reflected in the Dolphins' decision to hand Shaheen a two-year contract extension earlier Wednesday.

Shaheen and the Dolphins agreed Wednesday on a two-year contract extension worth up to $7.85 million, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
According to Schefter, the extension includes $3.2 million guaranteed. Since acquiring Shaheen from the Bears in July for a conditional seventh-round pick, the Dolphins have been pleased with how the 26-year-old has performed as the top blocking tight end to complement pass-catching specialist Mike Gesicki. Shaheen hasn't played more than 40 percent of the Dolphins' offensive snaps in any contest and isn't expected to see his role expand, but he at least offers a little more upside than the typical in-line tight end. He was a surprise weapon in the passing game in the Dolphins' Week 6 win over the Jets, hauling in all three targets for 51 yards and a touchdown in that contest.

Shaheen caught all three of his targets for 51 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 24-0 win over the Jets.
EDGE Analysis
He surprisingly lead the Dolphins in receiving yards on the afternoon as the offense mostly focused on chewing up the clock after taking a 21-0 lead into halftime, and Shaheen also found the end zone for the second straight game. Mike Gesicki, meanwhile, failed to catch either of his two targets Sunday. Shaheen's elite athletic profile made him a second-round pick of the Bears in 2017, but he wasn't able to stay healthy enough to take advantage of it in Chicago. Given his performance the last couple of games, he may cut into Gesicki's snaps and targets further coming out of Miami's Week 7 bye.
