Shaheen left Sunday's game against the Steelers and is having his right hand looked at, Adam Jahns of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
The rookie second-round pick has been playing mainly in a special teams role since Zach Miller and Dion Sims earn a bulk of the targets for Chicago. If he is unable to return, it won't shift the Bears' offensive game plan at all, but they'll have to look for another man to cover kicks and punts.

Shaheen played eight offensive snaps and wasn't targeted in the Bears' 23-17 loss to the Falcons on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Listed at 6-foot-6 and 270 pounds with a 4.79-second 40-yard dash time, Shaheen is a physical freak the Bears can dream on, but it doesn't appear coach John Fox is ready to carve out much of a role for the rookie on offense, at least for now. Despite his size, Shaheen's blocking still remains a work in progress, and his lack of experience against high-level competition -- he played at Division II Ashland during his college days -- could result in a longer developmental curve as he transitions to the NFL. It seems the Bears will at least plan to keep Shaheen active most weeks due to his sizable role on the team's special teams units, where he compiled 17 snaps in Week 1.

Shaheen caught his lone target for six yards in Sunday's win over the Titans.
EDGE Analysis
In addition to his lone reception which came in the middle of the fourth quarter, Shaheen just missed recovering a blocked punt for a TD, but he was unable to secure the ball before it went out of bounds. Otherwise, he operated mostly with the reserves. With Zach Miller seemed poised to be the primary receiving tight end, Shaheen will likely see most of his work as a blocker in multi-tight end sets. However, should Miller suffer an injury, he could see a quick increase in his usage as a receiver.

Shaheen caught his only target for nine yards Saturday against the Cardinals.
EDGE Analysis
Shaheen played with the second-string offense, and after making his only reception, he stumbled to the ground, keeping him from turning it in to a bigger play. Although the rookie has vast potential, it seems likely that he'll remain behind Zach Miller on the depth chart as the primary receiving tight end.

If Shaheen proves he can block. he'll play a lot in the regular season, Jeff Dickerson of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Shaheen followed up an excellent showing in the Bears' offseason program, and followed that up with a strong training camp. Based on his progress, he's expected to have a sizable role at tight end alongside Dion Sims and Zach Miller. However, part of the key as to how much playing time he'll see will be based upon how well he blocks, since he's already shown good hands as a receiver.

Shaheen caught one of two targets for three yards Thursday against the Broncos.
EDGE Analysis
Shaheen technically was a starter, as the Bears opened the game with three tight ends on the field, but he didn't see regular snaps until the starters were finished for the night. The lone pass he caught was in the red zone, but he was tackled immediately. However, he was unofficially targeted in the end zone on the same drive, but after he dropped the pass, the play was negated due to an offensive penalty. As long as Zach Miller remains on the team, Shaheen will likely remain behind him on the depth chart, but he's an excellent player to target in dynasty leagues.

Shaheen has made his presence felt in the red zone through the first five days of training camp, Rich Campbell of The Chicago Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Shaheen impressed at this year's Combine by running a 4.79 dash at 6-foot-6, 278 pounds, displaying the requisite athletic ability to eventually become both an excellent blocker and receiver. While the Division II product shouldn't be expected to make an immediate impact despite being selected in the second round, his size could make him an attractive option for the Chicago offense near the goal line. Zach Miller (foot) and Dion Sims are still better bets to handle significant snap counts, but Shaheen could take on more than initially expected if he continues to shine at training camp.

At 6-foot-6, 278 pounds, Shaheen drafted as a receiving tight end, Dan Wiederer of the Chicago Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Shaheen faces a a steep challenge as he tries to turn his Division II production, he caught 57 passes for 867 yards and 16 touchdowns in 2016, into relevance at the professional level. The Bears liked his ability to haul in 50-50 balls in the red zone in addition to his ability to plow over defenders. As the rookie develops, Zach Miller should hold onto the role as the team's receiving tight end, but Shaheen definitely has the tools to eventually become a productive receiver.
