Barton (ankle) has been ruled out for Wednesday's preseason game against the Warriors, Harrison Wind of TheDNVR.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Barton was considered doubtful for Wednesday's contest, so it's no surprise to see he won't be suiting up. It's unclear if the 30-year-old will be ready to play in Friday's exhibition versus Minnesota.

Barton (ankle) is doubtful to play in Wednesday's preseason contest against Golden State, Harrison Wind of TheDNVR.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Barton will likely sit this one out as he continues to nurse a lingering ankle sprain. The forward may be able to make his preseason debut Friday against Minnesota. However, It's possible that the Nuggets will continue to rest their veteran throughout the preseason to ensure he's fully healthy for the start of the regular season.

Barton (ankle) won't play in Monday's preseason game against the Clippers, Mike Singer of The Denver Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
As anticipated, Barton will be held out of the team's exhibition due to an ankle sprain. Head coach Michael Malone noted that Barton is progressing, per Singer. His next chance to see exhibition action arrives Wednesday against Golden State.

Barton (ankle) is not expected to play in Monday's preseason opener against the Clippers, Mike Singer of the Denver Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Barton was on the floor at shootaround Monday afternoon, but the belief is that he'll be held out of action as he continues to nurse an ankle injury that landed him in a walking boot last week. Overall, the issue doesn't appear to be overly serious, but Denver will likely exercise caution with the veteran swingman throughout its five-game preseason schedule.

Barton (ankle) tweaked his ankle during Wednesday's practice, Harrison Wind of TheDNVR.com reports. Wind reported that the injury doesn't seem too serious, but the veteran left practice wearing a boot.
EDGE Analysis
While it's good news that the injury is likely not serious, the fact that Barton departed in a boot is not the most encouraging sign. Barton agreed to a two-year, $32 million dollar deal over the summer after averaging 12.7 points, 4.0 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game last season. The hope is that this ankle issue doesn't linger, as Barton was limited to just 56 games last season due to injuries.

Barton and the Nuggets are working toward a two-year, $32 million contract agreement, Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
The belief all along was that the two sides would work together to keep the veteran wing in Denver, and it looks like that will ultimately be the case. While Barton has battled some injury issues in each of the last three seasons, he's remained a key cog for a Nuggets team looking to take the next step toward title contention. The 2012 second-round pick out of Memphis averaged 12.7 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 0.9 steals in 56 games last season. Barton has hit at least 37 percent of his three-point attempts in four of the last five seasons.

Barton declined his $14.7 million player option for the 2021-22 season Saturday, making him an unrestricted free agent this summer, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports. Both Barton and the Nuggets are interested in working on a new deal.
EDGE Analysis
Barton has been with Denver for seven years, making him the longest-tenured player on the roster. Due to a hamstring injury, Barton was only able to play in the final three games of the Nuggets' postseason run. He's often been injured, but the Nuggets have enjoyed his versatility when available. Whether starting or coming off the bench, Barton has proven to be an high-impact offensive player, able to create off the dribble and shoot well.

Barton had 25 points (9-21 FG, 3-9 3Pt, 4-4 FT), five rebounds, two assists and two steals in Sunday's Game 4 loss to Phoenix.
EDGE Analysis
Inserted into the starting lineup in place of Austin Rivers, Barton made the most of the opportunity, leading the Nuggets in scoring and posting his first 20-point game since April 19. It wasn't the most efficient effort from the floor, but it was an encouraging finish to the season for the veteran, who missed 20 straight games -- including all of Round 1 -- with a hamstring injury. Barton made his return for Game 2 against the Suns and scored in double-figures in all three of his appearances. He'll enter the offseason with a chance to hit free agency, as he holds a $14.7 million player option for the 2021-22 season.

Barton will start Sunday's Game 4 against the Suns, Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
Down 0-3 in the series, Denver will make a change to the starting five and insert Barton and Monte Morris, as Facundo Campazzo and Austin Rivers shift to the bench. Barton missed several weeks with a hamstring injury, which kept him out of the entire first-round series against Portland, but he made his return for Game 2 against Phoenix and played Game 3 without any noticeable restrictions. As the Nuggets attempt to stay alive, Barton could see an even larger workload Sunday.

Barton had 14 points (6-14 FG, 2-7 3Pt), seven rebounds and three assists in Friday's Game 3 against Phoenix.
EDGE Analysis
Playing in his second game after missing 20 straight contests with a hamstring injury, Barton didn't have any restrictions, as he saw 28 minutes of action off the bench. Barton was limited to 16 minutes in Wednesday's Game 2, which he finished with 10 points and three assists. The Memphis product has been a positive boost for Denver -- he finished Game 3 as a plus-2 -- but the Nuggets will need a miracle to climb back into the series after falling behind 0-3.
