Ulis was assigned to the D-League on Wednesday, the Arizona Republic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Ulis, a 2016 second-round pick out of Kentucky, has appeared in 14 games for the Suns on the season, averaging 3.4 points, 1.7 assist and 1.1 steals per game. Having registered DNP-CDs in three of Phoenix's last five games, Ulis will join the Northern Arizona Suns for an opportunity to see regular minutes in a game setting. He's expected to be in uniform for Northern Arizona's matchup with the Santa Cruz Warriors on Wednesday night.

Ulis recorded one steal in two minutes during Sunday's 120-119 loss to the Pelicans.
EDGE Analysis
With his teammates healthy, Ulis has fallen out of the Suns' rotation. In the last seven games, the rookie has failed to see court time three times and only logged double-digit minutes during a 138-109 blowout loss to the Warriors. Barring an injury, Ulis isn't likely to see significant minutes in competitive games.

Ulis has been a member of coach Earl Watson's rotation in each of the Suns' last four games, averaging 6.8 points, 2.5 assists, 2.3 steals and 1.0 rebound while shooting 47.8 percent from the floor in 15.5 minutes per contest.
EDGE Analysis
With regular starting small forward T.J. Warren missing the past three games with an illness that was recently reclassified as a minor head injury, sixth man Brandon Knight has vaulted into the starting five as part of a three-guard lineup, paving the way for Ulis to see more time with second unit. The rookie second-round pick has acquitted himself well during his appearances and has drawn praise from the coaching staff, so as long as the team remains at less than full health, Ulis should continue to see the floor most nights. It will probably take an injury to Knight and/or starting point guard Eric Bledsoe before Ulis sees significant enough minutes to draw interest in most fantasy formats, however.

Ulis put up four points (1-5 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 2-2 FT), two rebounds, six assists, and two steals in 18 minutes during Monday's loss to the Clippers.
EDGE Analysis
Ulis saw a season high in minutes with Devin Booker (toe) out, one night after logging less than a minute against the Warriors. In only his fourth career game, the rookie led all Suns players in assists and posted career highs in points, rebounds, assists and steals. If Booker continues to miss time, Ulis could continue to see increased minutes.

Ulis supplied 14 points (5-8 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 3-4 FT), two rebounds and two assists over 21 minutes in Friday's 112-107 preseason win over the Mavs.
EDGE Analysis
The rookie broke out with his best performance over the first five preseason tilts, showing once again why he may be able to make some meaningful contributions as his first pro campaign unfolds. Ulis will initially have a steep climb to appreciable playing time with Eric Bledsoe and Brandon Knight in front of him, but his effective outside shot should help him carve out progressively more minutes over time. Ulis' health will be an ongoing concern however, as his 5-foot-10, 150-pound frame will leave him vulnerable any time he's on the floor.

Ulis produced 12 points (4-7 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 3-3 FT), four rebounds, one assist and one steal across 16 minutes in Wednesday's 104-99 preseason loss to the Jazz.
EDGE Analysis
Ulis was the Suns' top player on the summer league roster, but has taken on a more understated role in the preseason while playing behind Eric Bledsoe and Brandon Knight at point guard. The presence of those two established players will likely limit Ulis' playing time as a rookie, but as he showed Wednesday in relatively sparse minutes, the Kentucky product is still capable of provide a spark when he's on the floor.

Ulis averaged 14.5 points, 6.3 assists, 2.5 rebounds and 2.8 steals in six Las Vegas Summer League games.
EDGE Analysis
While Ulis didn't shoot the ball overly well -- 41.2% FG, 31.3% 3Pt -- he was disruptive defensively and turned the ball over fewer than two times per game, while averaging more than 32 minutes. His performance earned him Second Team All-Summer League honors, while teammate Alan Williams was named to the First Team. With Brandon Knight and Eric Bledsoe firmly ahead of him on the depth chart, it's still unclear how Ulis will fit in as a rookie, but his summer league showing was about as encouraging as the Suns could have hoped.
