With Utah apparently not interested in extending him a qualifying offer for 2019-20, Cavanaugh will become a free agent July 1 and will presumably look to attract notice in Las Vegas before potentially signing overseas or with an NBA team.

Cavanaugh collected 21 points (9-17 FG, 3-9 3Pt), 13 rebounds and one steal in the 118-113 loss Tuesday in the opening round of the G League playoffs.

The two two-way players, Cavanaugh and Grayson Allen, were effectively Salt Lake City's only offense as the duo combined for 58 points on 20-of-32 from the field. The loss means Cavanaugh's abbreviated stint in the G League will conclude, as the Stars have been bounced from the G League playoffs.

Cavanaugh collected 20 points (7-13 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 3-4 FT), eight rebounds and four assists in the 141-114 win Friday over the Skyforce.

Almost the entire starting unit for Salt Lake City scored at least 20 points, including Cavanaugh, which allowed for the two-way player to register just over 24 minutes of court time. In 38 games with the G League roster, Cavanaugh is averaging 17.6 points, 7.4 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 2.0 turnovers.

Cavanaugh registered 31 points (12=14 FG, 4-4 3Pt, 3-5 FT), eight rebounds and four assists in the 112-107 win over Lakeland.

EDGE Analysis

The near perfect performance from the field is yet another indication of Cavanaugh's impressive offensive abilities. While he's managed to score more lately, he still is only averaging just under 17 points per game, which is only good for the 37th best figure in the G League at the moment. The power forward figures to make his return to Utah at some point, but he's a consistent source of production so long as he's with Salt Lake.

Cavanaugh destroyed Stockton on Wednesday, finishing the win with 31 points (10-17 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 8-8 FT), 11 rebounds, one assist and one steal.

EDGE Analysis

The two-way player hasn't made much of an impact with the Jazz, but he certainly did a number Wednesday, combining with the other two-way player - Naz Mitrou-Long - to score nearly half of the team's total points. Cavanaugh is averaging 15.9 points, 6.4 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.9 turnovers in 28 games with Salt Lake City.

Cavanaugh (coach's decision) didn't see the floor Wednesday in the Jazz's 114-108 win over the Nuggets.

EDGE Analysis

The Jazz had both of their two-way players (Cavanaugh and Naz Mitrou-Long) suit up with four others on the 15-man roster sidelined with injuries. The absences weren't enough to open up playing time for Cavanaugh, however, as coach Quin Snyder ran an 11-man rotation in the narrow win. Cavanaugh has seen action in four games with the Jazz earlier this month but has never played more than three minutes.

Cavanaugh tallied 35 points, 11 rebounds and two assists in 37 minutes during Tuesday's game against the Legends.

EDGE Analysis

Cavanaugh is currently playing on a two-way contract with the Jazz and will likely be called up intermittently throughout the season, especially if he continues to have outings like Tuesday's. For now, the former George Washington standout seems to be a stronghold in the Stars' starting lineup.

Cavanaugh, per the nature of two-way deals, can spend up to 45 days at the NBA level as well.

Cavanaugh was waived by the Hawks on Friday, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.

As part of his guaranteed contract, Cavanaugh was due $450,000 on Tuesday, so the Hawks will let him go to avoid that cost. As a result, Cavanaugh will be an unrestricted free agent in need of a new NBA home. The rookie out of George Washington ended up having a sizable role with a rebuilding Atlanta team last season, appearing in 39 games and averaging 4.7 points and 3.3 rebounds. His career-high came in November against the Pelicans, when he shot 6-of-7 from the field en route to scoring 16 points.
