Steve Blake (ribs) will play against the Celtics Thursday.
Blake's conditioning isn't where it needs to be yet, so we wouldn't expect much more than 15-20 minutes. Before going down, Blake was averaging 7.2 points and 2.8 assists as Derek Fisher's backup.

Steve Blake (ribs) is "expected to play" on Thursday against the Celtics.
Blake took part in shootaround on Wednesday and said "I'm feeling pretty good." The point guard will wear a protective vest which he called a "bubble pad" to protect the damaged cartilage in his rib area. He's officially a game-time decision, but all indications are that he'll be back out on the floor after being out since January 11. Blake was averaging 7.2 points, 2.8 assists and 1.4 treys in 24 minutes per game prior to getting injured.

Steve Blake (ribs) practiced Wednesday, and is a game-time call for Thursday's matchup with the Celtics.
Blake's return will be good news for the Lakers, but has no measurable impact outside of extremely deep fantasy leagues. The platoon PG is averaging 7.3 points, 2.8 assists and 1.4 threes in 24 minutes per game this season.

Steve Blake (ribs) remains sidelined.
Blake has been out since January 11 and there is still no word on a target date. The Lakers have been poking around at various point guards around the league and on the free-agent wire.

Steve Blake (ribs) remains without a timetable for his return.
He's ben out since January 11, and although doctors cleared him to run on a treadmill and he is healing at the expected rate, there is no specific timetable for his return. Blake will join the Lakers on the upcoming six-game road trip, but Derek Fisher will continue to see increased minutes until Blake returns.

Steve Blake (fracture of the cartilage connecting his ribs to his sternum) was evaluated by a doctor on Tuesday and was cleared to run on a treadmill.
Obviously he's still a ways away from playing again, meaning Derek Fisher should continue to get heavy minutes for the Lakers.

Steve Blake (ribs) will visit a doctor this week to see if he can be cleared to return to action.
Blake has been sidelined since the middle of January due to a fractured rib, and if he's medically cleared, Blake could play on Los Angeles' upcoming road trip. The Lakers could really use him as the team is desperate for improved play from the point guard position, and he was performing well in his role off the bench prior to going down. He's averaging 7.3 points, 2.8 assists and 1.4 treys in 24 minutes per game this season.

Steve Blake will miss the next 3-4 weeks due to a fractured rib.
Blake didn't look right and we weren't buying the 'day-to-day' designation, highlighting why you can't unconditionally trust teams when they issue guidelines. Derek Fisher had 10 assists tonight but that's not likely to become an every night thing, and perhaps more interesting is the ability for rookie Darius Morris to get some good experience.
