This was exactly the sort of performance Kilpatrick needs if he hopes to distinguish himself among the rest of the Pelicans' backcourt players competing for an opening night roster spot. The second-year man is averaging 12.3 points, 0.7 rebounds, and 0.7 assists over three preseason appearances.

He averaged 5.5 points, 1.5 rebounds, and one assist per game in his brief stint with Minnesota. He also played for the Santa Cruz Warriors and Delaware 87ers of the D-League throughout the 2014-15 season. He averaged 13.9 points, 3.2 rebounds, and one steal per game through 44 games in the D-League. If he winds up on the Pelicans' final roster heading into the regular season, Kilpatrick will provide depth at guard, and likely won't have much fantasy value in standard leagues.

Kilpatrick was not re-signed by Minnesota after his 10-day contract expired. Minnesota could be getting back several injured players the next two days. If not, they may be forced to sign another free agent to finish out the season.

Kilpatrick made his Timberwolves debut Thursday against the Knicks with 10 minutes off the bench. Kilpatrick joined the Timberwolves on a 10-day contract and could actually see some decent playing time over the next few games since Minnesota is absolutely depleted with injuries at the moment. As evidence of this, Kilpatrick was one of just an eight-man rotation against the Knicks. Although it would be unlikely if Kilpatrick amounts much production seeing that he couldn't find a spot on an NBA roster until now.

Kilpatrick signed a 10-day contract with the Timberwolves on Thursday. Given their rash of injuries, the Wolves have been granted a hardship exception to add a 16th player to the roster. Kilpatrick, a Cincinnati product, has spent the season in the D-League, appearing in 42 cumulative games for Delaware and Santa Cruz. He'll likely hold down a deep bench role and could see some immediate minutes until the Wolves' injury situation clears up.
