Patrick Patterson is a game-time decision on Wednesday due to a left quad strain.
Patterson has played well in the preseason, but he's a low-end big man in standard formats who will help owners in points and rebounds. He's currently penciled in as the starter at PF, and it would be surprising to see someone else get the nod over him.

Patrick Patterson scored 17 points with six boards, three assists, one three and one block in 27 minutes on Wednesday.
He took two attempts from beyond the arc, but obviously owners should't view Patterson as the next Ryan Anderson. He is what he is and he's a low-upside big man that should help in points and boards in deeper leagues.

Patrick Patterson started at power forward in Monday's exhibition loss, scoring 13 points on 7-of-12 shooting with seven rebounds and three assists in 26 minutes.
Patterson didn't record a steal or block, which is a problem with him as he averaged just 0.4 and 0.6 per game last season, respectively. Throw in a 70 percent career FT shooting mark and he needs to show some serious potential in the next week to garner late-round consideration in 8-cat formats. In a 9-cat format where his turnover rate is a bit more acceptable, owners can feel free to give him a look.

Patrick Patterson will "likely" start at power forward.
Patterson had previously said that his primary goal was to become the starter, and teammate Chandler Parsons recently added that Patterson is in "unbelievable shape." All signs are pointing to Patterson starting at PF right now, but we're watching this position battle closely as it unfolds in training camp.

Chandler Parsons said teammate Patrick Patterson is in "unbelievable shape right now."
Parsons added that Patterson is "getting better every day." The 2010 No. 14 overall pick previously said that his "number one goal" was to start at power forward, and it sounds like he knows he's coming into training camp with an opportunity to do exactly that. Keep a careful eye on how the Rockets use him in training camp.

Patrick Patterson said that being the starting power forward is his "number one goal" for the upcoming season.
Patterson also mentioned that he'd like to make the All-Defensive team and also is focusing on his post-up game. The Kentucky product received 28.6 minutes per game in his last seven contests last year and has a shot to repeat that allotment this season. He will compete with Marcus Morris and rookie Royce White for the starting power forward spot.

Patrick Patterson had surgery on his ankle in the offseason.
Patterson, who underwent an ankle procedure before the season began, underwent a second surgery to remove scar tissue from the first surgery. "How I feel compared to previous years is a lot better," he said. He's been working out in Houston as he rehabs, and Patterson has his sights already set on winning the Most Improved Player award next year.

Patrick Patterson was benched for the first half of Friday's game after being late to shootaround, and finished with eight points on 3-of-9 shooting with four rebounds and two assists in 14 minutes.
Patterson has shown some flashes of utility this season, but the productivity just hasn't been there on the whole. We'll keep an eye on him and let you know if he warrants fantasy consideration.

Patrick Patterson was benched for the first half of Friday night's game due to being late to the shootaround earlier in the day.
Patterson was coming off a career-high in points on Tuesday (24), so this was rather poor timing for him to slack off. It sounds like something that will blow over, however, and we should see him in the second half.

Patrick Patterson scored a career-high 24 points against the Kings on Monday, hitting 10-of-16 shots from the field with four rebounds and one block in 31 minutes off the bench.
Patterson has been pretty quiet for the month of March, so we'll need to see more than one good game before rushing owners to the wire. He also found himself playing against an increasingly erratic Kings team, which failed to employ any discernible game plan as both players and coaching staff -- leaving Patterson to take wide open shots. Take a flier if you must, but we're most comfortable watching him in standard formats for now.
