In a rare start, Smart posted an efficient 13 points (5-7 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 2-2 FT), three assists, three rebounds and two steals across 23 minutes in Wednesday's 117-87 win in Orlando.
EDGE Analysis
Smart was in the starting lineup due to Isaiah Thomas' groin injury. Despite the start, his 23 minutes were below his season average of 30 minutes per game. This was a nice team win for the Celtics, with seven players scoring in double digits. Smart will probably return to seeing big minutes off the bench when the C's return home to play the Raptors on Friday.

Smart will start in place of Isaiah Thomas (groin) on Wednesday against the Magic, Chris Forsberg of ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
As expected, Smart will step in at point guard while Thomas sits out with a groin injury, which he sustained Monday against the Rockets. While Smart should see a slight uptick in minutes, his production in five starts this season -- 10.0 points, 4.2 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 2.4 steals in 33.0 minutes -- hasn't been notably better than his numbers as a reserve. Expect Terry Rozier to also see increased time on the floor Wednesday as Smart's primary backup.

Smart is expected to start at point guard Wednesday against the Magic, ESPN.com's Chris Forsberg reports.
EDGE Analysis
With Isaiah Thomas (groin) ruled out for the contest after returning to Boston, Smart was spotted with a starter's jersey during the Celtics' morning shootaround Wednesday, so he's likely in line to receive the nod over Terry Rozier. In his previous five starts this season, Smart has averaged 10.0 points, 4.2 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 2.4 steals in 33.0 minutes per game, production that hasn't deviated much from what he's provided off the bench.

Smart tallied 13 points (4-9 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 4-5 FT), five rebounds, two assists and one block across 27 minutes in Monday's 107-106 loss to the Rockets.
EDGE Analysis
While Smart came through with a productive outing, it was still just the third time in the last nine games that he's been able to eclipse the 10-point mark. With Jae Crowder no longer facing any minute restrictions as the Celtics' starting small forward and the starting backcourt of Avery Bradley and Isaiah Thomas continuing to thrive, it looks like Smart will have to settle for a lessened role offensively than he had enjoyed in the first half of November.

Smart finished with nine points (3-9 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 3-3 FT), 10 assists, four rebounds and one steal across 27 minutes in Friday's 109-103 loss to the Spurs.
EDGE Analysis
Smart has shot an anemic 27.7 percent from the field over the last five games, but he's kept his fantasy value from tanking completely by filing it up across the board during that span with averages of 6.8 points, 5.4 assists, 5.0 rebounds, 1.2 steals and 1.0 three-pointer in 29.0 minutes per game. So long as fantasy owners can take the hit from Smart in field-goal percentage, he makes sense as a roster option in deeper leagues thanks to the ample production he'll offer in multiple categories.

Smart scored four points (2-10 FG, 0-4 3Pt) to go along with eight rebounds, eight assists, two steals, and one block across 31 minutes during the Celtics' 111-92 win against the Nets on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Smart's eight rebounds were a season high, and he has now surpassed 30 minutes in eight of his 12 appearances in 2016-17. In seven contests coming off the bench, Smart is averaging 31.1 minutes per game compared to 33 minutes per game in five starts. The Celtics have dealt with a plethora of injuries to key guys thus far in Al Horford (concussion) and Jae Crowder (ankle), but with both of them back and Isaiah Thomas and Avery Bradley playing so well, it might be difficult for Smart to keep earning so much time on a nightly basis. However, having averaged 27.0 and 27.3 minutes respectively during his rookie and sophomore campaigns, the young guard is clearly an integral part of the club's core.

Smart (ankle) finished with two points (1-9 FG, 0-5 3Pt), seven rebounds, three assists and two blocks across 31 minutes in Saturday's 94-92 win over the Pistons.
EDGE Analysis
Smart, who returned to a bench role Saturday following the return of Jae Crowder (ankle), didn't seem to be hampered by the ankle injury he picked up a night earlier in a loss to the Warriors. It was encouraging to see the Celtics hand him such a hefty workload even with the team back at full strength for the first time season, but Smart's familiar shooting woes resurfaced to cast a pall on his performance. Though Smart owns a 37.6 percent mark from the field in 2016-17, remarkably, it's the best showing of his career after he shot 36.7 percent as a rookie and 34.8 percent last season.

Smart (ankle) will play Saturday against the Pistons, Gary Washburn of the Boston Globe reports.
EDGE Analysis
Smart suffered a minor ankle injury in Friday's blowout loss to Golden State, but he'll be available Saturday in his usual role off the bench. The Oklahoma State product could see a slight reduction in minutes, however, given the return of Jae Crowder, who missed the previous eight games with an ankle injury of his own.

Smart suffered a left ankle contusion in Friday's matchup with the Warriors and will not return.
EDGE Analysis
Smart missed the first three games of the season with an ankle sprain and could now miss more time due to a similar injury. The Celtics are in the middle of a back-to-back set of games, leaving the guard a game-time decision for Saturday's matchup in Detroit. If he is ruled out, expect James Young to have an expanded role off the bench.

Smart supplied 15 points (6-12 FG, 3-6 3Pt), six rebounds, four steals and three assists across 37 minutes in Monday's 106-105 loss to the Pelicans.
EDGE Analysis
The four steals weren't surprising given Smart's standing as one of the league's better on-ball perimeter defenders, but his improved shooting -- along with the absence of Jae Crowder (ankle) -- continues to send his fantasy value on the upswing. Smart is only shooting 41.7 percent from the field and 35 percent from three-point land, but that's still a stark improvement from his career rates of 36.1 percent and 30 percent, respectively.
