Brown started at point guard and scored eight points with two assists in 23 minutes in Saturday's preseason loss to Chicago.
EDGE Analysis
Brown got the start with both Ricky Rubio (quad) and Andre Miller (personal) missing the game. We wouldn't read too much into his start as he'll be third or fourth on the depth chart at point guard when the season begins.

Brown appeared in 29 games for the Timberwolves in 2014-15, averaging 4.2 points, 3.1 assists and 2.4 rebounds in 18.9 minutes. Brown, who spent part of last season with the 76ers before suffering a wrist injury, began 2014-15 in training camp with the Pistons. He then moved to the Grand Rapids Drive of the D-League before being signed to a 10-day deal by the Timberwolves in late-January. Expected to primarily provide depth, Brown ended up starting seven contests and routinely playing significant minutes due to a rash of injuries to the Wolves' backcourt. With Ricky Rubio banged up after the All-Star break, Brown played at least 16 minutes in 11 straight games, including a five-game stretch at the end of March in which he averaged 36.6 minutes. The former North Carolina State standout has intriguing size for the position, but he is yet to prove he can shoot a decent percentage from the field, and his range is extremely limited. Through his first two professional seasons, Brown is shooting only 15.5 percent from three (9-of-58).

Brown will start Monday's game against the Jazz. Normal starter Kevin Martin is dealing with a hamstring injury which will allow Brown to make his second-career start. He's in line to see added minutes Monday, and may see extended run down the stretch with a depleted Minnesota roster.

Minnesota signed Brown to a contract for the rest of the season.Brown doesn't figure to get much playing time as the third point guard unless Ricky Rubio or Zach LaVine get hurt. He'll add depth for the second half of the season.

Brown signed a second 10-day contract with the Timberwolves on Friday. Brown has made four appearances for Minnesota since signing with the team on Jan. 28. While he set a career-high with nine assists in extended action last Friday, teammate Ricky Rubio's recent return from injury figures to limit Brown's involvement somewhat moving forward.

Brown played just one minute and did not take a shot in Monday's loss to Dallas. Brown played all but five seconds in Minnesota's last game with three point guards hurt. With the return of Mo Williams and Ricky Rubio from injuries, Brown is likely relegated to the bench.

Brown, with the Timberwolves down their first three point guards on the depth chart, played the entire game save for five seconds, scoring one point (0-5 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 1-2 FT) with six rebounds and nine assists Saturday. With Ricky Rubio (ankle) slated to return Monday, the days of Brown playing the entire game seem to be over. He can be safely dropped in most formats if he was added with all the injuries Saturday.

Brown will start at point guard Saturday against the Cavaliers, the Minneapolis Star-Tribune reports. In two games with the Timberwolves, Brown has averaged 7.5 points (on 50 percent shooting), three assists, 1.5 rebounds, one steal, and one three-pointer in 24 minutes. As the sole healthy point guard on the squad -- Ricky Rubio (ankle), Mo Williams (hip), and Zach LaVine (ankle) are all sidelined -- Brown should have all the work he can handle Saturday.

Brown had four points (2-4 FG), two rebounds, three assists and two steals in 23 minutes off the bench for the Timberwolves on Friday. Brown is averaging 7.8 points, 1.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists and one steal in 24 minutes per game since signing a 10-day contract with Minnesota. The minutes are nice but Mo Williams and Ricky Rubio are likely to return soon. If Zach LaVine heads back to the bench, expect Brown to get pushed further down in the rotation.

Brown signed a 10-day deal with the Timberwolves on Wednesday, Andy Greder of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports. Brown, who played 26 games for the Sixers last season, has spent the 2014-15 season in the D-League. At 6-5, he has intriguing size for a point guard, but he's struggled to score efficiently (31% FG last season).
