Dwayne Casey says Landry Fields has been dealing with a hand issue for a couple weeks and is visiting a specialist for further testing. Fields has seemingly had one forgettable night after another this season and this hand ailment could help to explain his poor start. We'll keep an eye out for any details regarding specifics or any time Fields might miss.

Dwane Casey said that the Raptors need to get more out of Landry Fields. We knew he wasn't going to be a 15- or 20-point-a-night guy but the type of things he does that are very effective as far as running the floor, cutting without the basketball - we have to get more of that from him," Casey said. The coach praised Fields' defense, but Fields has to be more of an option on offense, as well. Through his first three games with the Raptors, Fields hasn't eclipsed 25 minutes of playing time or scored more than five points.

Landry Fields had another forgettable night on Sunday, scoring five points in 21 minutes during the Raptors' win over the Wolves. Fields started again at SF, but he's looked lost for long stretches on the court in Toronto. Alan Anderson is playing well off the bench, and rookie Terrence Ross may also begin nipping at Fields' heels if he doesn't improve in a hurry.

Landry Fields was 0-for-6 and failed to score in a start at small forward on Wednesday. DeMar DeRozan, who just signed a big extension, started at SG and hit just 5-of-14 shots for 10 points tonight. DeRozan has more fantasy value than Fields, but neither player is currently a must-start.

Landry Fields started at small forward and scored four points on 2-of-4 shooting with seven rebounds, two assists, and a steal in 27 minutes. Fields has had a consistent starting role throughout the preseason and those around the team have said he is the established starter, but the issue is that he has averaged just 7.0 points, 5.0 boards, 1.4 assists, 0.8 steals, and 0.6 blocks in 23.6 minutes per game while going 0-for-5 from 3-point distance. That's not getting it done in standard formats.

Landry Fields is "fairly established" as a starter for the Raptors, according to beat writer Eric Koreen. The Raptors apparently prefer Linas Kleiza as a scorer off the bench and rookie Terrence Ross is going to be eased in. That leaves Fields as a defensive complement to DeMar DeRozan on the wing. Fields managed 8.9 points, 1.2 steals and 0.5 3-pointers in 62 starts for the Knicks last year, numbers that he should be able to at least duplicate while starting in Toronto. But on nights when Kleiza gets hot, minutes are going to be an issue.

Raptors GM Bryan Colangelo called Landry Fields a "vital part" of Toronto's defensive system. Colangelo also said that Fields has great basketball IQ, athleticism and has the capability to be an efficient scorer. The general manager also alluded to the idea of giving Dwane Casey increased roster flexibility with the Fields addition, and all eyes will be watching the Stanford product after signing a new deal worth nearly $20 million.

The Raptors officially have Landry Fields under contract for three years and $19 million, after the Knicks declined to match their offer sheet on Saturday. Fields has two-year career averages of 9.3 points, 5.4 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.1 steals in 30 minutes per game. The Raptors are overpaying him at an average of $6.3 million per season, and apparently view him as their starting SF ahead of James Johnson and Linas Kleiza. Fantasy owners should keep an eye on his shooting -- after solid percentages in his rookie season, Fields regressed last year to 25.6 percent from downtown and just 56.2 percent from the FT line.

The Raptors officially signed SG Landry Fields to an offer sheet on Thursday. The deal is for three years and $19 million, which many folks think is too rich for the Knicks to match. They still haven't said they won't, but the overwhelming sentiment from various writers is that the Knicks will likely let him walk.

The Knicks may be ready to match Toronto's three-year, $19 million offer to SG Landry Fields. Luxury tax is not an issue simply because the Knicks don't care about it, but it does sound like they'll wait the entire three days before making the decision. And at this point, it sounds like there's a 50 percent chance the Knicks will match.
