Kuzma will get the start in place of Anthony Davis (calf) on Sunday against Minnesota, Dave McMenamin of ESPN reports.

With Davis sidelined, Kuzma will move into the lineup at power forward, while Marc Gasol starts at center and LeBron James gets the nod at the three. Kuzma is off to strong start to the season, and he's coming off of a 28-point, eight-rebound, five-assist, two-steal effort in Friday's win over Dallas.

Kuzma will come off the bench during Tuesday's opener against the Clippers, Matthew Moreno of Lakers Nation reports.

EDGE Analysis

Dennis Schroder will get the nod, as will Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, LeBron James, Anthony Davis and Marc Gasol. Even though he's not starting, Kuzma could still see minutes in the high-20s.

Kuzma signed a three-year, $40 million extension with the Lakers on Sunday, which includes a player option for the third season, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.

The 25-year-old will begin the season with some finacial security after helping the Lakers win the NBA Finals earlier this year. Kuzma averaged 12.8 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 25.0 minutes over 61 games during the 2019-20 campaign, and he should be an important piece off the bench again for Los Angeles this season.

Kuzma had 23 points (8-15 FG, 4-8 3Pt, 3-3 FT), three rebounds and two assists in a 112-107 preseason win against Phoenix on Wednesday.

EDGE Analysis

Even with LeBron James and Anthony Davis returning to start, their limited minutes allowed Kuzma another chance to lead Los Angeles in Wednesday's victory. The 25-year-old has followed up on their absences with an average of 22.0 points and a 47.6 three-point shot percentage through three games.

Kuzma will start Wednesday's preseason game against the Suns, Mike Trudell of the Lakers' official site reports.

EDGE Analysis

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope (hip) is unavailable Wednesday, so Kuzma will join the starting five for Los Angeles. The 25-year-old has totaled 43 points, nine assists and eight rebounds in 78 minutes through the first two preseason contests.

Kuzma delivered 25 points (8-14 FG, 4-7 3Pt, 5-8 FT), six rebounds, four assists and a block across 40 minutes during Sunday's 131-106 win over the Clippers.

EDGE Analysis

Kuzma was one of two Lakers that reached the 25-point plateau, as Talen Horton-Tucker paced the team with 33 points (11-17 FG, 4-5 3Pt, 7-9 FT). Kuzma will probably be one of the team's biggest bench threats and, while that limits his upside, he's more than capable of delivering strong scoring performances. He scored 15 or more points in 28 games last season.

Kuzma registered 18 points (5-16 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 6-9 FT), five assists and two rebounds across 38 minutes during Friday's 87-81 win over the Clippers.

EDGE Analysis

Kuzma took advantage of the fact that players such as LeBron James, Marc Gasol, Anthony Davis and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope were all out due to rest, and he made his presence felt on the offensive end of the court. Kuzma is not expected to be a starter once the regular season begins but he might be a useful player in fantasy due to his ability to score against any given opponent. His role and usage will ultimately determine his upside, but the talent is clearly there -- even if he's been inconsistent throughout most of his NBA career.

Kuzma had 19 points (6-13 FG, 5-11 3PT, 2-3 FT) and three rebounds in Sunday's Game 3 loss to the Heat.

EDGE Analysis

It was a typical up-and-down game for Kuzma, but he showed well on the offensive end, hitting four threes against the Heat's zone defense. Kuzma's 19 points set a new playoff career high, and his four made threes were his most in any game since Game 4 against Portland on Aug. 24.

Kuzma totaled 10 points (4-11 FG, 2-7 3Pt), one assist and one steal in 19 minutes during Thursday's 114-108 victory over Denver.

EDGE Analysis

Kuzma continues to underwhelm on both ends of the floor with what can only be described as another mediocre performance. Across his 15 playoff games, Kuzma has scored in excess of 15 points only twice, adding a combined 13 assists, five steals and five blocks. Apart from doing his best Doug McDermott impersonation, Kuzma is giving us no reason to think he will be a reliable fantasy asset anytime soon.

Kuzma notched 13 points (6-7 FG, 1-1 3Pt), six rebounds, a steal and a block in 21 minutes off the bench during Sunday's Game 2 win over the Rockets.

EDGE Analysis

Kuzma was coming off back-to-back eight-point performances and, even though a 13-point outing doesn't scream massive improvement, he did take a step forward in terms of efficiency -- he missed just one shot all night long. The Lakers need Kuzma to become a reliable scoring threat regardless of his role and that hasn't been the case in the current playoff run, where he has scored topped the 15-point plateau just once while notching fewer than 10 points four times.
