Primo (quad) has been cleared to play in Monday's game against the Knicks, Paul Garcia of Project Spurs reports.

Primo took a knee to the thigh during Sunday's OT loss to the Nets, but he'll play through the discomfort as the Spurs complete a back-to-back set, as well as a seven-game road swing. Primo has started the last two games in place of Derrick White (COVID-19 protocols) and will likely be in line for another start Monday.

Primo is listed as probable for Monday's contest against the Knicks with a left quadriceps contusion.

Primo has made two straight starts while the Spurs have been shorthanded due to multiple players landing in the COVID-19 health and safety protocols. Between those contests, the rookie first-round pick has totaled 21 points, five assists, three rebounds, two blocks and one steal. If available Monday, he could be in store for another start.

Primo finished with nine points (4-7 FG, 1-3 3Pt), two rebounds, two assists, one block and one steal in 25 minutes during Friday's 119-100 loss to Philadelphia.

With the Spurs shorthanded, Primo drew the first start of his career. The rookie first-round pick's performance wasn't spectacular, but he avoided big mistakes and played an efficient game, which will likely garner him extended looks moving forward. Saturday marked the seventh time Primo played double-digit minutes and just the second time he eclipsed 20-plus minutes. It's possible Primo could wind up on fantasy radars if he continues to see an uptick in playing time.

The shorthanded Spurs will give Primo the first start of his career. In the six games that he's seen double-digit minutes, he's averaged 6.2 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 17.2 minutes.

Primo finished with 15 points (4-10 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 5-6 FT), five rebounds, four assists and two blocks across 28 minutes during Tuesday's 129-104 loss to the Raptors.

Primo has been thriving for the Spurs at the G League level and delivered his best performance in the NBA today, as he took advantage of the fact that he played a season-high mark in minutes as well. He's not expected to log 20-plus minutes once the team gets healthier, however, and it wouldn't be shocking to see Primo spending most of the season at the G League level.

Primo had 23 points (9-17 FG, 5-10 3Pt), six rebounds, four assists and a block across 34 minutes in the win over the Ignite on Dec. 20.

EDGE Analysis

Primo looked impressive in the first game of the showcase for Austin, but his strong efforts at the G League have been noticeable. For what it's worth, that has allowed him to be called up constantly to San Antonio, where he's been endured to a lesser role off the bench.

Primo was recalled from the NBA G League ahead of Sunday's game against the Pistons, independent NBA journalist Matthew Tynan reports.

Primo, along with Joe Wieskamp and Devontae Cacok, are all being called up for Sunday's game against the Pistons. With the G League announcing all games have been called off from Dec. 27 through Jan. 4, Primo will suit up for the Spurs and provide them with some added depth in the backcourt. The 19-year-old guard has appeared in eight games this year, averaging two points in 7.4 minutes per contest.

Primo notched 21 points (8-22 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 2-2 FT), five rebounds, four assists and a steal across 35 minutes in Thursday's win over Lakeland.

EDGE Analysis

Primo has been moving between the NBA and the G League this season, and while his shooting figures in this game were not impressive, he still found a way to deliver a strong output. Primo is averaging 16.7 points per game this season.

Primo was assigned to the Austin Spurs on Friday, Bruno Passos of PoundingTheRock.com reports.

The 18-year-old has played sparingly with San Antonio this season, averaging 7.4 minutes and 2.0 points across eight appearances. However, in seven G League appearances, the rookie is averaging 18.0 points across 29.4 minutes per game.

Primo recorded 27 points (10-18 FG, 5-7 3Pt, 1-2 FT), seven assists, three rebounds, two blocks and a steal across 32 minutes in Friday's loss against Greensboro.

EDGE Analysis

Primo has been moving between San Antonio and Austin during the last few weeks and has looked effective on both roles, though he clearly holds a more prominent role for the G League affiliate. Primo is averaging 18.0 points per game in seven appearances with Austin.
