Josh Childress missed all four of his shots and failed to score, but somehow grabbed a season-high 12 rebounds in just 16 minutes on Tuesday. Childress has no fantasy appeal as long as Grant Hill is healthy, but this line may qualify as the strangest one we've seen this season.

Josh Childress replaced Grant Hill on Wednesday after Hill left the game with a sore knee. Childress had eight points and four boards in 21 minutes and could be worth a deep-league look if Hill's knee injury lingers.

Josh Childress has worked his way back into Alvin Gentry's rotation. "Athletically, he (Childress) kind of gave us something," he said. "He's really the one guy who hadn't had an opportunity to be out there and be out there with the starters. I went back with him, and I liked what I saw." Childress played a season-high 18 minutes on Monday, but he's averaging just 2.8 points and 2.0 rebounds this season in the eight games he's played.

Coach Alvin Gentry confirmed that Josh Childress has fallen out of the rotation. Childress is behind Grant Hill, Jared Dudley, Shannon Brown and Hakim Warrick on the wing. "He's got every right to be upset," Gentry said. "I just don't know how I can get him into games. He comes to practice real professional and works his butt off." Childress hasn't had a real NBA role since the 2007-08 season while with the Hawks.

Josh Childress may lose his backup SF job to Hakim Warrick. Warrick has looked good during training camp and the Suns want to get him into the rotation, but there's very little room behind Channing Frye and Markieff Morris at PF. Neither Childress nor Warrick are likely to have value in average leagues this year.

Alvin Gentry wants Josh Childress to be more active. "I told him, at that position, Grant gets a couple layups a game just because of the effort he runs with. He's just got to crank it up." Not exactly a ringing endorsement from Gentry, and the coach also added that he needs to defend better, so clearly the swingman has something to prove.

Josh Childress is getting a chance to run with the Suns' starting lineup in the small forward slot for as long as Grant Hill is sidelined. Suns coach Alvin Gentry has set his starting lineup for Tuesday's preseason game at Denver. With Grant Hill sitting out due to his sore knee, Gentry will start Marcin Gortat, Channing Frye, Josh Childress, Jared Dudley and Steve Nash. Most observers think this will be the Suns' starting lineup for Opening Night, but Gentry has said he might look at a different lineup in the Suns other preseason game on Thursday night.

Josh Childress is feeling more comfortable now that he's in his second season with the Suns. I'm more relaxed mentally. Obviously, I'm going to be intense. The more calm you are, you're able to play off instinct instead of feeling like you're running around with your head cut off." Childress also added that he plans to be more assertive, and it sounds like the team might have a real idea as to how to use him this season. Regardless, he's not on the fantasy radar currently.
