Mason produced 13 points (4-6 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 3-5 FT), two rebounds and one assist in 12 minutes Wednesday in the Kings' 127-101 loss to the Rockets.
EDGE Analysis
This was a garbage-time special for Mason, who had played 15 minutes total over the Kings' last eight games. Despite the solid performance in the blowout loss, Mason doesn't look poised to push for more playing time in the near future. In fact, he'll likely drop further in the backcourt pecking order once Alec Burks, who was acquired from the Cavaliers on Wednesday, is ready to make his Kings debut.

Mason managed eight points (3-5 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 2-3 FT), two assists, one rebound, and one steal in 15 minutes during Saturday's 107-97 loss to the Pacers.
EDGE Analysis
Mason is posting modest per-game counting stats, plus he has been inefficient offensively. He hasn't reached double figures in scoring since back in October, when he did so twice in his first three appearances of the season. With that being said, he remains the primary backup point guard behind De'Aaron Fox, so competition for playing time has been fierce. As a result, Mason is best reserved for use in deeper leagues, barring an injury to Fox.

Mason registered 14 points (6-10 FG, 2-4 3Pt), seven assists, five rebounds and one steal across 27 minutes in the Kings' 126-112 loss to the Nuggets on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
After a solid first season for a second-round pick last year and a solid preseason this fall, Mason has been highly productive in the two regular-season games during which he's seen appreciable minutes. The 24-year-old had posted 18 points, six assists, one rebound and one steal across 21 minutes last Friday versus the Pelicans before receiving a DNP on Sunday against the Thunder. Coach Dave Joerger finds himself with a relatively deep backcourt rotation at the moment, but Mason seemingly offers more offensive punch than the likes of veteran Ben McLemore, for example, which should serve to carve him out consistent minutes on the majority of nights.

Mason will come off the bench in Wednesday's season opener against the Jazz, Andy Larsen of the Salt Lake Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
It was reported a little over a week ago that Mason was in line to open the year as the Kings' starting shooting guard, but it appears plans have changed and coach Dave Joerger will go with Buddy Hield and Justin Jackson on the wing instead. It's a disappointing development for Mason's fantasy value even though he should still see significant minutes in the regular rotation. Fantasy owners will likely want to take a wait-and-see approach with Mason before rolling him out in lineups.

Mason supplied 14 (4-12 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 3-4 FT), eight assists and four rebounds across 30 minutes in the Kings' 118-115 preseason loss to the Trail Blazers on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
Mason was back in the starting five after a one-game sabbatical on the second unit Thursday. The second-year guard is reportedly on track to open the season as the starting two-guard while Bogdan Bogdanovic completes his recovery from a knee injury. Mason has earned the job with a strong preseason, one in which he's posted double-digit scoring efforts in five of six games and dished out between five and eight assists in four of them.

Coach Dave Joerger implied Monday night that Mason would begin the season as the starting two-guard, James Ham of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
EDGE Analysis
While Bogdan Bogdanovic (knee) is the favorite to take over when healthy, Joerger intimated after Monday's preseason contest that he'll go with a backcourt pairing of Mason and De'Aaron Fox to begin the season. "Frank does what does, he's hard nosed and he's a guy that a coach always knows he can go to and you're going to get 110 percent from him," Joerger said. Obviously, Mason is a bit undersized for a traditional NBA two-guard, but he's a strong three-point shooter -- a necessary skill next to Fox, who struggled in that area as a rookie. Nothing is ever truly set in stone when it comes to the Kings, but as of now, Joerger appaers poised to roll out Fox, Mason, Justin Jackson, Nemanja Bjelica and Willie Cauley-Stein on opening night.

Mason registered 13 points (5-11 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 2-2 FT), eight assists and five steals across 28 minutes during the Kings' 132-100 preseason win over Maccabi Haifa on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
The 2017 second-round pick put together a better-than-expected rookie campaign while carving out a solid second-unit role, averaging 7.9 points, 2.8 assists and 2.5 rebounds across 18.9 minutes over 52 games. Yogi Ferrell's offseason arrival does present an obstacle in terms of playing time opportunities, but performances like Monday's serve as a tangible reminder of Mason's ability to provide a jolt off the bench. The Kings' backcourt rotation is likely to be in flux over the course of the season, and Mason's quest to carve out a meaningful role once again would benefit from the former Jayhawk significantly improving last season's 37.9 shooting percentage.

Mason is dealing with a sprained right ankle and has been ruled out for Wednesday's summer league matchup against the Cavaliers, James Ham of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
EDGE Analysis
Mason is coming off an impressive 10-point, 13-rebound double-double Tuesday, though it appears he may have tweaked his ankle during that contest as well. With Mason already being an established NBA player, he has no reason to risk injuring the ankle further in an exhibition outing and will get the night off Wednesday. It wouldn't be surprising if he was ultimately shut down for the rest of summer league, though the Kings are tentatively considering him day-to-day moving forward.

Mason finished with 10 points (3-6 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 3-4 FT), 13 assists, one rebound and one block across 26 minutes during Tuesday's 94-80 summer league win over the Grizzlies.
EDGE Analysis
Mason hasn't scored at volume during summer league thus far, but he's been supplying his teammates with good looks. Across six summer league games, he's totaled 64 points, 43 assists, 16 rebounds, seven steals and a block. As the depth chart stands, he should slot in as De'Aaron Fox's backup once again come the beginning of the season.

Mason offered 12 points (5-16 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 2-2 FT), six assists, one rebound and two steals across 30 minutes during the Kings' 88-78 loss to the Clippers in a Las Vegas Summer League contest Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Despite draining just 31.2 percent of his shots, Mason managed to join Justin Jackson as the only double-digit scorers for Sacramento. The 2017 second-round pick has mostly been taking advantage of increased playing time, as he averaged 11.7 points, 6.3 assists, 3.7 rebounds and 1.7 steals across 32.7 minutes in three games of California Classic Summer League play before arriving in Las Vegas. While his shot hasn't been quite as sharp in the desert (33.0 percent through two games), Mason continues to put in solid work as a facilitator (5.5 assists per contest) and gain valuable seasoning after appearing in 52 games during his rookie campaign.
