Bacon has settled as a starter this season, and while he's been inconsistent, he seems to be finding a groove of late -- he has scored in double digits in four of his last five contests. He has been dependant on volume to make things happen, however, as he's only shooting 42.6 percent from the field and 25 percent from three-point range during that five-game stretch.

Bacon scored 19 points (8-14 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 1-1 FT) to go with two rebounds and one assist across 32 minutes in a 105-94 win over Cleveland on Wednesday.

Bacon is averaging his most points per game of his young career, attributed to by his highest field-goals made total of his young career. The 25-year-old will likely see an increased offensive workload with Markelle Fultz having his season ended after suffering a torn ACL Wednesday. Bacon has scored in double digits in back-to-back games just two times since the 2018 season, but it looks promising for the guard to make it a third time on Friday against a Rockets team that's allowing 115.6 points per game this season.

Bacon finished with 18 points (9-10 FG) and eight rebounds across 23 minutes in Tuesday's win over the Thunder.

EDGE Analysis

Bacon has started every game for the Magic this season but this is the first time he was able to surpass the 10-point mark. Bacon began the 2020-21 season with a scoreless outing against the Heat, but he has been both productive and sharp since then -- he has averaged 10.0 points per game while shooting 13-for-17 from the field in that three-game stretch. It's safe to say he's trending in the right direction.

Bacon will start at small forward during Friday's preseason opener against the Hawks.

With a myriad of players out for the Magic, Bacon will find himself in the starting five. For his career, he's averaging 5.3 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.0 assists in 16.0 minutes.

Bacon will look to get back on track with the Magic, but he likely won't have a significant role with the team. He's never seen more than 17.7 minutes per game in a season.

Bacon says his best option is to "go somewhere else" as a free agent, Rick Bonnell of The Charlotte Observer reports. "Maybe I'm not meant for this [Hornets] organization or maybe they don't want me. I don't know," said Bacon.

There's clearly a massive gap between his G League usage and performance and NBA usage and performance, which could not be bridged. It's unclear how much interest other teams have given how unproven Bacon is across his first three seasons.

Bacon was recalled by the Hornets ahead of Monday's tilt with Atlanta.

It was the first time during his G League tenure this year, that Bacon's failed to score at least 40 points. While it was disappointing, it was likely simply an off day for the 24-year-old. He'll look to bounce back Wednesday against Westchester.

Bacon's eclipsed 40 points in each of his three G League outings, including a 51-point game in his season debut after being demoted. However, with rare exceptions, we haven't seen anything like that from him at the NBA level yet.
