This was the 7-0 center's sixth double-double in nine games played this season, as he was able to shoot a fine 58.3 percent from the floor Tuesday. Lakeland's top two scorers, Jamel Artis and Rodney Purvis, were called up this week so it figures that Mullens might be able to increase his season average of 20.4 points per game even more during the final week of the G League season.

EDGE Analysis

The 29-year-old center has been a great addition to Lakeland since signing with the team earlier in March, as he added his third straight double-double Sunday. Through five games played this season, Mullens is averaging a superb 19.6 points and 11.8 rebounds per game which indicates that he is great candidate for a double-double night in and night out.

Mullens had 17 points (5-16 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 5-6 FT), 12 rebounds, two assists and one block during Wednesday's 113-108 win over the Blue.

EDGE Analysis

The 7-0 center provided his first double-double with Lakeland since signing with them earlier in the month. During his first three games with Lakeland thus far, the former Ohio State player is averaging an impressive 23.5 points and 7.5 rebounds across 32.0 minutes of action.

Byron Mullens did not exercise his player option with the 76ers and is now a free agent. He turned down $1.1 million on the last year of his deal. Mullens had every chance to perform after the trade deadline with the depleted Philly roster, but he couldn't beat out Henry Sims and averaged just 6.8 points, 3.3 boards, 0.4 blocks and 1.1 triples in 13.7 minutes over 18 games. Teams won't be very interested in signing him.

Henry Sims has been playing well as the Sixers' starting center, with Jarvis Varnado backing him up, but Mullens should still carve out 10-15 minutes per game. The Sixers have five games left in their tanked season, which has seen 23 different players filter through their roster.

Philly could have used his 3-point shooting to clear extra space in the paint vs. the Pistons, but they'll have to make do with heavy minutes from starters Henry Sims and Thaddeus Young, as well as backups Jarvis Varnado and Brandon Davies.

Byron Mullens suffered an ankle sprain in the first half of Thursday's game and is questionable to return. He didn't seem to injury his ankle too badly and was subbed out during free throws. If he needs to miss time, Jarvis Varnado and Henry Sims figure to pick up some of the slack, which isn't much.
