Baron Davis is still attempting to make a comeback in the NBA, and said that he'd love to return to the Cavaliers. Davis is a highly entertaining personality and it would be great to see him latch on with a team, but it's not going to happen. The 35-year-old said that he's still not 100 percent after tearing his ACL and MCL two years ago, and we're more likely to see him return as an assistant coach than a player.

Baron Davis says he's working out in an attempt to return to the NBA this season. "My whole thing is to get in the best shape of my life and by September or October be ready to showcase my talent and try out for whoever I need to try out for," Davis said. "I think the most important thing is being in shape." The former All-Star spent last season out of the game after blowing out his knee in the 2012 playoffs and we're very skeptical he'll find a lasting spot on a roster this fall.

He is 34 years old coming off major surgery to repair a torn ACL, MCL and patella tendon, and he struggled with back pain and conditioning issues prior to blowing out his knee. We'll have plenty of advance warning if an NBA team considers signing him.

Davis is said to be "very excited about the opportunity," which is believed to be a mentor role behind the scenes. Although Davis still wants to make a comeback and is currently walking without a knee brace or crutches, he's still got a long way to go.

"I'm feeling good, getting there," Baron said on Sunday. "A lot of rehab. A lot of rehab." He apparently looked "trim and healthy" while hosting a charity event last weekend, but a healthy dose of skepticism is required when it comes to Baron's health and conditioning -- it would be stunning to see him on a basketball court before next summer.

Baron Davis underwent right knee surgery Thursday. Davis, 33, is now facing 12 months of rehab after tearing his ACL, MCL and patella tendon. He's also dealt with back woes, weight problems and declining effectiveness over the last few seasons. Davis' NBA career is in jeopardy.

In addition to the partial tear of Baron Davis' right patella tendon, an MRI revealed a complete tear of the ACL and MCL in his knee.

Baron Davis has been diagnosed with a dislocated right patella (kneecap) and will undergo further testing for structural damage. It's hard to imagine Baron not needing surgery, which would put his future in the NBA in doubt given his age and injury history. For now, the team will rely on Mike Bibby and Toney Douglas, with Jeremy Lin potentially available if New York forces Game 5.
