Bennett will be assigned to the D-League Raptors 905 for their game Sunday against the Delaware 87ers, but is expected to rejoin Toronto before their contest at 6:00 ET against the Kings.

Raptors 905 is based in nearby Mississauga, Ontario, so Bennett will likely have enough travel time to report back to Toronto before warmups begin. While it's possible Bennett could see the court with both teams Sunday, most -- if not all -- of the forward's playing time figures to come with the D-League affiliate. Bennett isn't a regular member of coach Dwane Casey's rotation in Toronto and hasn't played in the Raptors' last two contests.

Bennett scored two points and added three rebounds in Monday's 106-90 loss to Indiana.

All of Bennett's minutes continue to come in garbage time late in games when they are already decided before he enters. He's buried on the depth chart just hasn't been able to be a part of Dwane Casey's rotation so far this season.

Bennett hasn't appeared in the Raptors' last five matchups, and he's seen double-digit minutes only once in their first 15 games. Bennett doesn't seem to be a major part of head coach Dwane Casey's rotation, and is currently slotted behind Luis Scola, Patrick Patterson and James Johnson on the depth chart.

Bennett tallied 10 points (3-5 FG, 3-4 3Pt, 1-4 FT), eight rebounds, one assist and three steals in a preseason loss to Minnesota on Wednesday.

Coach Dwayne Casey was complimenting Bennett just a few days ago and it appears Bennett has some confidence now that he didn't have in his first couple of years. Obviously the talent is still there for the former number one overall pick and the move to Toronto may be the best break he's had in his short career. His fantasy value is still limited as a bench player, but he just needs to keep improving to eventually get on the fantasy radar.

Bennett has impressed Raptors coach Dwane Casey with his defense since joining the club, the Toronto Sun reports. "He's in the right place, he gets there quickly, with a sense of urgency, with force. He's known as an offensive player, but his defense has been the most impressive thing to this point," Casey said Sunday.

EDGE Analysis

The Raptors haven't yet settled on a primary backup to DeMarre Carroll at small forward, so if Bennett can continue flashing in the defensive end he could well end up seeing more significant minutes than expected in the team's wing rotation.

The former number one pick will likely start with a bench role for the Raptors and look to earn his playing time. His preseason performance will play a factor in the teams confidence in him, so it's good news that he's returned to practice.

Bennett (shoulder) made his preseason (and Raptors) debut Monday against the Warriors, scoring five points (1-6 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 2-2 FT) and handing out two assists in 16 minutes.

Bennett sat out Sunday's exhibition opener after hyperextending his shoulder in a recent practice, but his return to the court Monday suggests the injury was never a major concern. Cut loose by the Timberwolves earlier this summer, Bennett will look to recoup value while playing for his hometown team, but in a best-case scenario, he looks destined for an end-of-the-bench role.

Bennett is likely to miss tonight's preseason opener against the Clippers, Eric Koreen of the National Post reports.

Bennett hyperextended his shoulder in practice and will probably take the night off to rest it. The injury doesn't seem like anything to serious, and the former first-overall pick should be good to go by the beginning of the regular season.

As anticipated, Bennett will head to the Raptors on a one-year deal. Bennett struggled to get meaningful minutes with the Timberwolves last season, so it's tough to see him making much of a name for himself in Toronto. He finished the 2014-15 season playing in 57 games, while averaging 5.2 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 0.8 assists over 16 minutes per game. Steer clear of Bennett in standard leagues until he proves himself otherwise.

Bennett could sign with the Raptors as early as next week, Marc Stein of ESPN reports.

It's important to note that nothing is set in stone at this time, but Stein notes that "barring some unexpected snag" the Raptors could bring Bennett in on a minimum deal, all the team can offer given its current cap situation. Whether that ultimately happens remains to be seen, but Bennett, a native of Canada, would not immediately step into a significant role.
