Bennett was assigned Sunday to the D-League's Long Island Nets.

Bennett's minutes have fluctuated quite a bit with the Nets this season and he's logged 10 minutes or less in each of his last three contests. He'll head to Long Island for some additional in-game reps during Sunday morning's game against the Grand Rapids Drive, but could be recalled later Sunday in time for the Nets matchup with Kings. Otherwise, he should be back in time for Tuesday's tilt with the Clippers.

Bennett (coach's decision) didn't see the court in Tuesday's 125-118 loss to the Lakers.

After playing a season-high 26 minutes in Monday's blowout loss to the Clippers, Bennett unsurprisingly dropped out of the rotation Tuesday with the Nets playing a more competitive game. Bennett is averaging 11.0 minutes per game over his six appearances on the season and is shooting just 32.1 percent from the field. The former No. 1 overall pick hasn't seemed to show many signs of improvement in his fourth NBA season.

Bennett scored 15 points (2-5 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 11-14 FT) to go with five rebounds, one assist and one steal across 21 minutes in Saturday's 116-98 loss to the Knicks.

Bennett's 15 points were tops among the Nets' bench players, with the former No. 1 overall pick showcasing some surprising touch from the charity stripe after hitting only 65.7 percent of his free throws in his first three NBA seasons. Now on his fourth team in four years, Bennett has clearly been a disappointment since turning pro, but Brooklyn could prove to be a fertile development ground for the 23-year-old. The Nets boast perhaps the NBA's weakest roster, so there could be an opportunity for Bennett to claim a rotation role if he continues to excel during practices and exhibition games.

Bennett agreed to a two-year contract with the Nets Thursday, Shams Charania of The Vertical reports.

This will be the former No. 1 overall pick's fourth team in three seasons in the NBA, as he continues to fail to live up to the expectations placed on him. He's averaged just 4.2 points and 3.1 rebounds over 12.8 minutes per game in those three seasons while never really finding a role on a team. The Nets, however, have a frontcourt filled with young, unproven talent, which could give Bennett at least an opportunity to see the floor, especially with the league putting out smaller lineups. The contract is for the minimum salary with only the first year guaranteed.

Bennett is reportedly being waived by the Raptors, Sam Amico of Fox Sports Ohio reports.

EDGE Analysis

The former number one overall pick is being waived by the Raptors in order to make room for the signing of Jason Thompson. Bennett averaged 1.5 points, 1.2 rebounds, and 0.3 steals in four minutes per game through 19 games during 2015-16.

Bennett has appeared in two games for Toronto throughout February and has averaged 2.0 points and 1.5 rebounds in 4.5 minutes per contest.

EDGE Analysis

On the season, Bennett has been declared inactive for 11 total games, and had been benched for another 26. To say the least, Bennett is buried on the depth chart and nothing suggests he will see meaningful action any time soon.

Bennett was recalled from Raptors 905 of the NBA's D-League on Saturday.

Bennett has appeared in just 13 of the Raptors' 47 contests this season, averaging a minimal 4.9 minutes during those showings. Meanwhile, in six D-League contests, he's averaging 9.2 points (on 34 percent shooting), 3.1 rebounds, 1.0 steal, 0.7 assists, and 0.7 blocks in 18 minutes.

Bennett was recalled from the D-League on Tuesday.

EDGE Analysis

The former No. 1 overall pick has played sparingly in parts of 10 games for the Raptors this season, and he's struggled in four D-League appearances, averaging just 11.0 points and 3.3 rebounds on 31.2 percent shooting. The 22-year-old is unlikely to make an impact at the NBA level any time soon.

Despite the promotion, Bennett has made just 10 appearances on the season for the Raptors and will likely head back down to the D-League at a later point in the season. Barring something unforeseen, Bennett will remain buried on Toronto's depth chart behind Luis Scola, Patrick Patterson, and James Johnson.

Bennett was assigned to the D-League's Toronto 905 on Thursday, Doug Smith of the Toronto Star reports.

EDGE Analysis

Bennett hasn't seen the court for the Raptors in the last three games, so the assignment to the 905 should allow him to pick up some needed playing time. He's unlikely to become a part of the Raptors' rotation when he inevitably rejoins the team.
