Andrei Kirilenko is listed on the Inactive List for Wednesday's season opener due to his lingering back injury.
This shouldn't come as a surprise and owners of the oft-injured forward should plant him on the bench until further notice. We're going to list Kirilenko as day-to-day, but his back hasn't been right since Oct. 12.

Andrei Kirilenko (back spasms) remains day-to-day in advance of Wednesday's season opener.
He was only able to run on a treadmill during Monday's practice and may end up as a game-time decision. With three games on the slate this week, owners in weekly-lineup leagues may need to look elsewhere for healthy options.

Andrei Kirilenko has been ruled out of Tuesday's game due to back spasms.
He had a setback and remains day-to-day with the season one week away. Back spasms have been an off-and-on problem for AK throughout his career but they usually subside within a few days. In his absence, a few extra minutes will be available for Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, Alan Anderson, Mirza Teletovic and others.

Andrei Kirilenko sat out Tuesday's game against the Celtics with back spasms, the second straight game he's missed.
While the injury doesn't appear to be serious, Kirilenko's recent injury history doesn't bode well if his back isn't near 100 percent. He's sure to get some nights off this season and taking it easy before the games matter is a smart course of action by coach Jason Kidd. Kirilenko should be in the mix for Sixth Man of the Year coming off the Nets' bench, but monitor the condition of his back before taking him in the latter rounds of your fantasy draft.

Andrei Kirilenko and Paul Pierce did not travel to Philadelphia for Monday's game.
The Nets come right back home to face the Celtics on Tuesday, and the team merely seized an opportunity to rest a few veterans in the preseason. With both guys out vs. the 76ers, Alan Anderson is expected to start at SF.

Andrei Kirilenko will not play on Monday against the Sixers.
There's no report of an injury and it's likely just some rest for the Russian. Kirilenko might not get too many minutes in Brooklyn, but his defensive contributions put him on the radar as a late-round pick in standard leagues.

Despite playing only 20 minutes off the bench, Andrei Kirilenko had four points, two rebounds, four steals and three blocks vs. the Pistons.
His rapid-fire accumulation of defensive stats is a good reminder of what he's capable of, though fantasy owners should remain wary of his bench role (and occasional starts if Paul Pierce or Kevin Garnett are rested).

The NBA investigated the circumstances surrounding Andrei Kirilenko's signing with the Nets, but they found no evidence of wrongdoing.
Kirilenko turned down a $10.2 million option with the Wolves, instead signing for $3.1 million with the Nets, which triggered suspicions that he and owners Mikhail Prokhorov had arranged a side-payment to make up the difference. The league's "thorough" investigation proved those allegations to be unfounded.

Andrei Kirilenko was in Brooklyn on Sunday to talk to Russian college players.
Most of his teammates are heading to California for Deron Williams' players-only workouts, but Kirilenko is not expected to attend. He's going to come off the bench for the Nets in what looks to be the league's most talented second unit.
