Eflin was placed on the 7-day disabled list at Triple-A Lehigh Valley with an undisclosed injury, Greg Joyce of The Easton Express-Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
After struggling in his role as the Phillies' fifth starter, Eflin was demoted to Lehigh Valley on May 28 and picked up an injury in his first turn with the Triple-A club. The Phillies have an opening in the rotation after Vince Velasquez was diagnosed with a minor flexor strain, but even before suffering the injury, it didn't sound as though Eflin was under serious consideration to reoin the big club. Instead, the Phillies will call up Nick Pivetta from Triple-A to join the rotation Monday when Velasquez's turn comes up.

Eflin was optioned to Triple-A Lehigh Valley following Sunday's loss to the Reds.
EDGE Analysis
Eflin was torched at home by the Reds to the tune of seven earned runs on nine hits -- including four long balls -- over five innings Sunday. Considering the 23-year-old is now 0-3 with a bloated 6.13 ERA and 11 homers allowed in 47 innings (eight starts), the team has decided to send him down to work on his game. Eflin's replacement in the rotation has not yet been announced.

Eflin picked up his second loss of the season Tuesday after allowing eight runs on 10 hits in an 8-2 loss to the Rockies. He struck out four and walked two.
EDGE Analysis
Eflin has allowed 15 runs over his last 10 innings which has ballooned his ERA to 5.54. The young righty doesn't have strikeout stuff, so he is going to have nights like Tuesday where he gets hit around if he isn't locating his pitches. He'll try to get back on track when he faces the Reds in his next start.

Eflin allowed seven runs on 11 hits over four innings Wednesday in a 9-3 loss to the Rangers. He struck out one and walked two.
EDGE Analysis
Eflin entered Wednesday's game having allowed no more than three runs in any of his previous starts. The 23-year-old righty told Jim Salisbury of CSN Philadelphia that he was struggling to locate his pitches and the Rangers took advantage. Eflin will try to bounce back in his next start against the Rockies in Philadelphia.

Eflin gave up three runs on nine hits over six innings in a no-decision against Seattle on Wednesday, striking out five and walking one.
EDGE Analysis
Remarkably, he also hit a batter for the fourth consecutive start -- quite a bizarre streak for a guy who's only issued four walks in 32 innings. The five strikeouts represent a season high for Eflin, and it's good to see him missing some more bats -- his sparkling stats will be hard to maintain otherwise, even if he continues keeping the ball on the ground and avoiding bases on balls. With a couple off days coming up and no announced plans to skip anyone's rotation turn, Eflin may not make his next start until next Wednesday in Texas.

Eflin allowed three runs on nine hits over seven innings Thursday against the Cubs. He struck out one and did not walk a batter.
EDGE Analysis
Eflin has gone seven innings in each of his last three starts, but has yet to pick up a win despite his 2.42 ERA. He's not striking guys out, but he also isn't issuing many walks and he is keeping the ball on the ground. He'll face the Mariners in his next start.

Eflin twirled seven strong innings Saturday against the Dodgers, allowing two runs on four hits and no walks while striking out four. However, he ended up with a no-decision.
EDGE Analysis
The 23-year-old starter has been incredibly effective this season, and Saturday night was no different. 68 of his 103 offerings went for strikes, and although he didn't miss too many bats, he kept the Dodgers at bay by inducing 12 groundouts (as opposed to just two flyouts). Unfortunately, a ninth-inning implosion by the bullpen kept Eflin from picking up his first win of the season, but he'll look to pick that up in his upcoming start Thursday against the Cubs.

Eflin's next scheduled start is Saturday against the Dodgers, J.P. Hoornstra of the Southern California News Group reports.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander will duel with Los Angeles right-hander Brandon McCarthy. Eflin has allowed only three runs over his first two starts (12 innings), but his 3.89 FIP and 5.3 K/9 tell a story of negative regression coming for that small sample size. Los Angeles' top-notch offense against righty arms doesn't help that outlook.

Eflin allowed one run on three hits over seven innings Sunday in a 5-2 win over the Braves. He struck out three and did not walk a batter.
EDGE Analysis
Eflin didn't strike many batters out, but the Braves were not able to make solid contact on his pitches. He generated six groundouts to first base and six shallow pop-ups to the outfield. The young righty has allowed just three runs in his first two starts this season. He'll try to keep rolling against the Dodgers in his next start.

Eflin pitched five innings in Tuesday's no-decision against the Mets, giving up two runs on three hits and three walks with four strikeouts.
EDGE Analysis
It was a decent if unimpressive season debut for Eflin, who's occupying Clay Buchholz's rotation spot. The 23-year-old Eflin has not shown great upside throughout his career in the minors or majors, so there shouldn't be much interest here outside of NL-only leagues and super-deep mixers.
