Eflin's rotation spot is safe even if the shortened season means the Phillies elect to open the campaign with Spencer Howard on the big-league roster, Scott Lauber of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
EDGE Analysis
Eflin isn't a dominant weapon by any means, but he seemed to have a firm grip on a rotation spot despite his 4.13 ERA last season not being particularly well supported by his 4.85 FIP and 4.76 xFIP. If Howard does indeed open the season in the big leagues, that will come at the expense of Vince Velasquez and Nick Pivetta, who were battling for the fifth starter spot.

Eflin signed a one-year, $2.625 million contract with Philadelphia on Friday, avoiding arbitration, Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
EDGE Analysis
Eflin cruised to his best year yet in 2019, finishing with a 4.13 ERA and 1.35 WHIP with 129 strikeouts across 163.1 frames. He'll likely sit near the middle of the Phillies' rotation during the 2020 season.

Eflin (10-13) earned the win Saturday against the Marlins after allowing three runs on six hits over 7.2 innings. He struck out six and walked two.
EDGE Analysis
Eflin was through 7.2 frames with only one run allowed, but a single and a home run during the eighth inning ended his outing. The 25-year-old had an up-and-down season with a 4.13 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 129:48 K:BB through 163.1 innings, but he'll finish with a quality performance.

Eflin (9-13) allowed five runs on eight hits and four walks over five innings Monday, striking out two batters and taking the loss against Washington.
EDGE Analysis
Eflin served up three solo homers Monday, one in each of the first three innings. It was the first time he allowed more than three runs in a start since July 27. Eflin's ERA bumped to 4.16 next to a 123:46 K:BB over 155.2 frames this season. He'll make his final start of the 2019 regular season at home against Miami on Saturday.

Eflin (9-12) picked up the win in Wednesday's 4-1 victory over Atlanta, allowing one unearned run on five hits and two walks while striking out four.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander only tossed 58 strikes among his 99 pitches and managed to generate only three swinging strikes, but he kept Atlanta hitters off balance and didn't give up an extra-base hit. Eflin will carry a 4.00 ERA and 121:42 K:BB through 150.2 innings into his next start Monday, on the road against the Nationals.

Eflin (8-12) allowed three unearned runs on three hits with three walks and five strikeouts across 3.2 innings while taking a loss against the Braves on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
The good news is Eflin didn't yield an earned run, but he lost anyway, dropping his record to 8-12. He has just one win since June 25. Eflin's ERA has dropped since the end of August, but overall, he doesn't excel in any one fantasy category. He owns a 4.20 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 117 strikeouts in 143.2 innings this season. Because of two off days coming up, Eflin will have some additional rest before his next start. He is scheduled to pitch again one week from Friday at the Indians.

Eflin didn't factor into the decision in Friday's 5-4 loss to the Mets, allowing two runs on six hits over five innings while striking out six.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander has pitched well since rejoining the rotation following a brief demotion to the bullpen, posting a 3.32 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 13:3 K:BB over four starts (21.2 innings), and Friday's six whiffs were Eflin's highest total in a game since June 19. He'll try to keep his momentum going in his next outing Wednesday, at home against Atlanta.

Eflin allowed one run on three hits and a walk in seven innings against the Mets on Sunday but did not factor into the decision. He struck out three.
EDGE Analysis
Eflin's lone mistake was a fastball that Pete Alonso deposited over the left field wall for a solo home run in the first inning. He was nearly flawless for the remainder of his seven innings, allowing only three additional baserunners on a pair of hits and a walk. Although he whiffed just three batters, Eflin was in control of the zone most of the night, throwing first-pitch strikes to 18 of 24 hitters. The 25-year-old has now allowed only three runs in 13 innings over his last two starts and will get a chance to build upon the momentum when he heads to New York to face the Mets on Friday in his next scheduled start.

Eflin is scheduled to start Sunday against the Mets, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Eflin was originally scheduled to get the ball Saturday, but the Mets opted to push him back to allow Jason Vargas to start on normal rest. The 25-year-old Eflin will be plenty rested for Sunday's series finale, as he last took the mound Saturday against the Marlins, allowing two runs across six innings while striking out two to earn the victory.

Eflin (8-11) allowed two runs on six hits with no walks and two strikeouts across six innings to earn a victory against the Marlins on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
Eflin needed this win as badly as anybody in the league, as before Saturday, he hadn't earned a victory since June 24. Since then, he's had four losses and six no-decisions. After giving up a run in the first, Eflin only yielded two baserunners over the next three frames. He allowed the second run in the fifth. He owns a 4.50 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 103 strikeouts in 128 innings this season. Eflin will pitch next at home Saturday against the Mets.
