Eflin (2-1) earned the win Saturday against the Braves after allowing one run on four hits with eight strikeouts and zero walks over seven shutout innings.
EDGE Analysis
The 26-year-old delivered his best start of the season Saturday, as the only damage he gave up all afternoon came via a solo homer from Johan Camargo during the sixth inning. Eflin has a 4.10 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 37:8 K:BB over 26.1 innings, and he'll look for a similar result Thursday versus the Nationals.

Eflin (1-1) gave up three runs on six hits and three walks with six strikeouts in 5.1 innings to earn the win Sunday versus Atlanta.
EDGE Analysis
Eflin didn't pitch particularly deep into the game, but the Phillies' five runs were enough for him to leave with a lead. The 26-year-old now has a 5.12 ERA, 1.55 WHIP and 29 strikeouts in 19.1 innings this season. Eflin has allowed eight or more baserunners in three of his four starts this year. He'll look to limit them in his next turn out, which is expected to be a rematch with Atlanta on Saturday.

Eflin gave up four runs on five hits and three walks while striking out eight in four innings Tuesday versus the Red Sox. He did not factor in the decision.
EDGE Analysis
Eflin needed 86 pitches (52 strikes) to get through his four innings in the high-scoring contest. The 26-year-old has been boom or bust through three starts -- he's got a 5.14 ERA and 23:5 K:BB in 14 innings this season. Eflin will look to limit the runs in his next time out, currently scheduled for Sunday in Atlanta.

Eflin (0-1) allowed four earned runs on seven hits and one walk while striking out 10 across six innings to take the loss Wednesday against the Orioles.
EDGE Analysis
Eflin got through the Orioles' lineup one time cleanly, but ran into trouble thereafter. That began when he allowed a solo home run to Anthony Santander in the third inning, but continued with earned runs in both the fourth and fifth frames. More positively, he did throw 91 pitches and ended the outing with a clean sixth inning. He also showcased a strong ability to miss bats, racking up 19 swinging strikes to back up his 10 punch outs. Eflin currently lines up to draw his next start Tuesday at Boston.

Eflin did not factor in the decision against the Yankees on Thursday, tossing four innings and allowing two unearned runs on four hits and one walk while striking out five.
EDGE Analysis
Eflin missed the start of the season while dealing with back spasms, but he looked sharp against the potent Yankees offense in his first start, allowing only a pair of unearned runs in four frames. The right-hander departed with a lead but didn't go deep enough into the game to pick up the win, as he was limited to 77 pitches in the outing. Eflin will look to build upon his performance when he faces Baltimore at home Wednesday in his next scheduled start.

Eflin (back) will start Tuesday against the Yankees, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Back spasms popped up for Eflin in mid-July and put his readiness for the start of the season at some risk, though he was never shut down from throwing and has evidently continued to progress well. He threw 60 pitches in his final preseason tune-up, so he's likely to wind up throwing no more than 75 or 80 in his season debut.

Eflin (back) pitched well in his simulated game Thursday, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
As expected, Eflin threw four innings and 60 pitches in his simulated game, and manager Joe Girardi said he threw the ball well. If the right-hander feels good Friday, he's expected to start Tuesday at the Yankees. Eflin battled back spasms that limited his workload during camp but appears to be tracking toward his return. If he wouldn't be ready for his first turn through the rotation, Nick Pivetta could start in his place.

Eflin (back) is scheduled to throw a four-inning/60-pitch simulated game Thursday, which could determine his status for the first turn through the rotation, Meghan Montemurro of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 26-year-old has been battling back spasms during summer camp, but he may not miss any regular season action if Thursday's sim game goes smoothly. If all goes well Eflin lines up to start Tuesday against the Yankees, though he likely would have a limited workload. Nick Pivetta should be next in line to start if Eflin isn't ready, since Spencer Howard was already transferred to the team's alternate training site.

Eflin (back) threw a bullpen session Monday, Matt Breen of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
EDGE Analysis
The session apparently went quite well, with pitching coach Bryan Price calling it "beautiful." Aesthetics aside, the Phillies will be very happy to Eflin back on the mound after battling back spasms, especially as they're already expecting to be without one starter early in the season, as Zack Wheeler will be away on paternity leave with his wife due to give birth to the couple's first child around Opening Day. Whether or not Eflin is able to build up to a starter's workload for his first turn in the rotation remains to be seen.

Eflin is considered day-to-day due to back spasms, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
The issue doesn't appear to be serious, but it's prevented Eflin from facing hitters in any of the Phillies' intrasquad games. WIth Opening Day less than two weeks away, it's quite possible Eflin misses a turn in the rotation or is at least on a fairly low pitch count early on. With Zack Wheeler also set to miss time early due to the birth of his first child, there's a good chance both Vince Velasquez and Nick Pivetta are in the Phillies' rotation to start the year. Highly-rated prospect Spencer Howard could even get a chance right away, as well, despite the fact that he's yet to reach Triple-A.
