Eflin (kneecap) will begin a rehab assignment with Double-A Reading on Saturday, Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
EDGE Analysis
Eflin has missed over a month with patellar tendinitis, but it looks as though the Phillies can expect him back for the stretch run. He could be back in late August or early September, depending on how many rehab starts he's asked to make.

Eflin (kneecap) completed a 28-pitch live batting practice session Sunday, Matt Breen of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
EDGE Analysis
After throwing a pair of bullpen sessions earlier in the week, Eflin took the next step forward in his recovery from right patella tendinitis by facing hitters. The Phillies will presumably check back in with Eflin on Monday before deciding whether to send him out on a minor-league rehab assignment, or to keep him around the big club and have him build up his pitch count through simulated games. Whenever he's reinstated, Eflin will likely bump Matt Moore from the Philadelphia rotation.

Eflin (knee) went through another bullpen session Thursday, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Eflin threw 38 pitches Thursday, just three days after his previous session Monday. He didn't feel good after his sessions back in late July but feels better now, though his exact return date remains unclear.

Manager Joe Girardi said that Eflin (knee) threw a light bullpen session Monday, Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
EDGE Analysis
Eflin last threw a bullpen July 25, but he did not come out of the session feeling well. His return to mound work is a positive step in the right direction, but the right-hander still remains without a concrete return timeline. With that in mind, Eflin could have an outside chance of rejoining the Phillies' rotation by the end of August, though a September activation appears more likely at this point.

Eflin (knee) didn't come out of Sunday's bullpen session as the Phillies hoped and won't rejoin the rotation this week, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander was in in consideration to return from the injured list during the back half of the week, but he's apparently still having some issues after Sunday's bullpen. Eflin landed on the shelf with right patella tendinitis after his last start July 16, and his absence will extend into early August, at least.

Eflin was placed on the 10-day injured list Tuesday with right patella tendonitis, Matt Breen of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
EDGE Analysis
Eflin had surgery in 2016 to repair both patella tendons, so there figures to be a strong chance that the injury is related to those past issues. The Phillies aren't particularly concerned with the injury despite Eflin's history of knee troubles, but it's evidently enough of an issue for him to miss at least a turn or two in the rotation. The Phillies will go with a bullpen day in his place Wednesday against Atlanta. Eflin's move to the injured list can be backdated to Saturday, which leaves him eligible to be activated July 28.

Eflin (4-7) allowed six runs (five earned) on six hits and two walks while striking out five over 3.2 innings as he took the loss to the Marlins in the second game of Friday's doubleheader.
EDGE Analysis
Eflin went into the All-Star break with three straight quality starts but could not replicate that in Friday's outing. Starling Marte did most of the damage against him. He swatted a two-run homer in the first and then plated another run in the fourth before eventually coming home on a three-run blast from Jesus Aguilar. Eflin still remains an intriguing option due to his ability to log 6+ innings and the fact that he doesn't allow many walks. The 27-year-old owns a 4.17 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 99:16 K:BB over 105.2 innings and is set up to face the Braves at home next week.

Eflin (4-6) earned the win Thursday versus the Cubs. He pitched six shutout innings with five strikeouts while only allowing five hits and a walk.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander has now produced three straight quality starts, and Thursday's was arguably his finest work this year. Eflin got plenty of support from a Philadelphia offense led by Brad Miller's three-homer game. Through 102 innings, Eflin has a 3.88 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 94:14 K:BB across 17 starts. He'll look to keep up the positive momentum after the All-Star break.

Eflin (3-6) earned the win after allowing two runs on three hits and two walks over six innings Saturday against the Padres. He struck out a pair.
EDGE Analysis
Eflin registered his first victory since May 7, settling in nicely after allowing a two-run Manny Machado homer in the first inning. The right-hander allowed just one hit the rest of the way before giving way to the bullpen after the sixth. Eflin has turned in back-to-back quality starts, allowing three earned runs in 12 innings across those two outings. In 16 starts overall this season, Eflin owns a serviceable 4.13 ERA and 1.23 WHIP with an 89:13 K:BB in 96 innings. He's lined up to face the Cubs in his next start.

Eflin (illness) is starting Saturday's game against the Padres.
EDGE Analysis
Eflin was initially slated to start Thursday against the Marlins, but he received a few extra days of rest since he was dealing with congestion and body aches. The right-hander has posted a 4.50 ERA and 1.45 WHIP in 22 innings across his last four appearances.
