Davies (back) will make a rehab start for Triple-A Reno on Tuesday, Steve Gilbert of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Davies will be making his second rehab start after throwing 4.1 innings last Thursday for the Aces. It looks like the Diamondbacks may get creative with the rotation until Davies is ready to return. The club cut the cord on rookie right-hander Ryne Nelson, who was optioned back to Reno as part of a roster shakeup Sunday. That essentially leaves them with three starters -- Zac Gallen, Merrill Kelly (leg) and Brandon Pfaadt. "Ryne did a good job in some of his games," Arizona general manager Mike Hazen said. "It just was wildly inconsistent for us. We ended up using a lot of bullpen in those days, anyway. The decision was, if we're using a lot of bullpen in those days, anyway, looking at it just as a traditional starter situation wasn't the right way we should be looking at it." Bryce Jarvis, a starter throughout his career, was called up Sunday and will pitch out of the bullpen. Slade Cecconi is up with the team and made one start and one relief appearance. Arizona also has Tyler Gilbert for multiple innings.

Davies (back) will begin a rehab assignment Thursday with Triple-A Reno, Theo Mackie of The Arizona Republic reports.
EDGE Analysis
The date of his rehab debut has moved around a bit, but Davies is now officially locked in to return to live competition Thursday at Reno and the expectation is that will throw around 75 pitches in that start. Out since mid-July due to lower-back inflammation, he could rejoin the Diamondbacks as early as next week.

Davies (back) is scheduled to start for Triple-A Reno on Aug. 12, MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
This contradicts an earlier report from Nick Piecoro and Theo Mackie of the Arizona Republic, which had Davies starting Thursday. Davies, who threw a simulated game Aug. 5, will begin a rehab assignment with the Aces whenever he takes the mound. The right-hander last pitched in the majors July 18.

Davies (back) is on track to begin a rehab assignment Thursday with Triple-A Reno, Theo Mackie of The Arizona Republic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Davis worked a successful simulated game over the weekend and is slated for one final bullpen session Tuesday before he heads to the farm for what would be his first live appearance since June 23. The 30-year-old right-hander has posted a rough 7.38 ERA across 12 major-league starts this season, but the quickly-sinking Diamondbacks could sure use him back to at least eat some innings.

Davies (back) is scheduled to pitch a simulated game Saturday, Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic reports.

Arizona placed Davies on the 15-day injured list Wednesday with lower-back inflammation.
EDGE Analysis
Davies struggled mightily in his last start Tuesday at Atlanta, surrendering nine earned runs on eight hits and three walks over 3.2 innings while recording only one strikeout. He'll be sidelined until at least early August and is scheduled to undergo an MRI on Thursday to determine the full extent of the lower-back issue.

Davies didn't factor into the decision in Tuesday's 16-13 win over Atlanta, coughing up nine runs on eight hits and three walks over 3.2 innings. He struck out one.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander was mostly awful, with five of the eight hits off him going for extra bases, but Arizona's offense answered Atlanta's blow for blow until finally pulling away in the top of the ninth inning. It's the second time this season Davies has been tagged for nine runs in a start, and his 7.38 ERA and 1.62 WHIP through 57.1 innings make him unrosterable in any format. Should the Diamondbacks become buyers at the trade deadline, replacing him in the rotation will likely be the top priority, but for now Davies lines up to take the mound again this weekend in Cincinnati.

Davies (1-5) allowed three runs on four hits and two walks over 5.1 innings Sunday, striking out six and taking a loss against the Pirates.
EDGE Analysis
Most of the damage against Davies came in the second inning when Ji-Man Choi belted a two-run shot. Davies has fallen to 0-4 over his last six starts while posting a brutal 7.85 ERA during that span. Through 11 outings, the veteran righty has registered a 6.37 ERA alongside a 45:24 K:BB through 53.2 innings.

Davies didn't factor into the decision in Tuesday's 8-5 loss to the Mets, giving up four runs on five hits and two walks over 5.2 innings. He struck out six.
EDGE Analysis
The ball was flying at Chase Field, with Davies serving up two of the six homers that left the yard Tuesday afternoon, and the right-hander exited the game after 94 pitches (58 strikes) with the score tied 4-4. He'd been tagged for only one long ball in his prior seven starts combined, but that hadn't resulted in much success -- Davies had a 6.75 ERA and 1.62 WHIP in 33.1 innings over that stretch. He lines up for one more start before the All-Star break, at home against the Pirates.
