Darvish (triceps) played catch Tuesday, Mark Gonzales of the Chicago Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Tuesday's session marked the first time Darvish was able to play catch since landing on the disabled list near the end of May. The Cubs will wait and see how his triceps responds before determining the next step in his rehab, leaving his return date up in the air.

Darvish (triceps) is rehabbing with the team but has not started a throwing program, Mark Gonzales of the Chicago Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
While he avoided any structural damage, the fact that he is not yet throwing suggests he is at least a couple weeks away from returning to the big-league rotation. It is unclear if he will need a rehab assignment before coming off the disabled list.

After being sent for an MRI, it was determined Wednesday that Darvish is dealing strictly with right triceps inflammation, Jesse Rogers of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
This is good news for the Cubs, who feared Darvish had structural damage in his throwing arm. He's expected to start a throwing program either over the weekend or early next week, although the timetable for the 31-year-old's return from the disabled list remains a bit murky.

Darvish (triceps) will be sent for an MRI, Carrie Muskat of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Manager Joe Maddon said he's not overly concerned after talking to Darvish, saying the problem "didn't sound awful." Darvish landed on the disabled list Saturday with right triceps tendinitis, which carries with it a pretty wide open timetable. He could theoretically return June 2 on the road against the Mets, but a more reliable timetable should be forthcoming when the MRI results are revealed.

Darvish was placed on the 10-day disabled list Saturday with right triceps tendonitis, retroactive to May 23.
EDGE Analysis
He was scheduled to start Sunday's game against the Giants, but instead Tyler Chatwood will be moved up to start that game. Darvish had actually rebounded nicely from a rough start to the season, giving up two runs with 12 strikeouts over his last 10 innings (two starts), but his ERA on the season still sits at an unsightly 4.95 with a 1.42 WHIP. Mike Montgomery, Duane Underwood and Alec Mills seem to be the leading candidates to slot into the rotation while Darvish is sidelined.

Darvish (1-3) picked up the win Sunday, allowing one run on two hits and three walks while striking out seven over six inning against the Reds.
EDGE Analysis
It looked like Darvish was in line for another short outing after he needed 40 pitches to get through the first inning, but the right-hander settled in and was dominant over his final five frames. Darvish still has just three quality starts in eight turns and his walk rate remains high, but this was a big step in the right direction. He will look to keep it going next weekend in a home matchup against the Giants.

Darvish (calf) will start Sunday against the Reds.
EDGE Analysis
Cramping in Darvish's right calf knocked the right-hander out of Tuesday's game after just 61 pitches, but there was never any indication during the week that this start was in serious jeopardy. Darvish will look to get on track and record just his third quality start in eight turns. Cutting down on the walks will be key (4.8 BB/9 so far this year).

Darvish did not factor into the decision in Tuesday's win, pitching four innings while allowing one run on three hits and two walks with five strikeouts against the Braves.
EDGE Analysis
In his first start in nearly two weeks following a stint on the disabled list with the flu, Darvish was limited to just 61 pitches and four frames. There's no indication that the early hook was anything other than caution on the part of manager Joe Maddon. Either way, Darvish looked sharp in inducing 10 swings and misses on just 36 strikes, and limited the damage to a solo home run to the second-to-last batter he faced. The 31-year-old is still looking for his first win since joining the Cubs, and he'll get his next crack at that Sunday against the Reds.

Darvish (illness) was activated from the disabled list ahead of his start Tuesday in Atlanta.
EDGE Analysis
Darvish hasn't pitched since May 2 after hitting the DL with the flu. Prior to his illness, he struggled through his first six starts for the Cubs, posting a 6.00 ERA backed up by strikeout (26.4 percent) and walk rates (11.4 percent) which would each be the worst numbers of his career.

Darvish (illness) will toe the rubber in Atlanta on Tuesday, Carrie Muskat of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Darvish was placed on the disabled list earlier this week due to a parainfluenza virus, though he should be back to 100 percent well before Tuesday's outing. During his previous start versus Colorado on May 2, he allowed five earned runs off seven hits -- three home runs -- and three walks while striking out eight in 4.1 innings.
