Calhoun is out of the lineup Sunday against the Cardinals.
EDGE Analysis
After being called up from Triple-A Nashville on Wednesday, Calhoun drew starts in four consecutive games, going 9-for-20 with a pair of home runs and six RBI in those contests. Though he'll sit out the series finale with the Cardinals, Calhoun's recent production might be enough to give him a temporary playing-time edge over Hunter Pence as the Rangers' primary designated hitter.

Calhoun went 4-for-7 with a home run, three RBI and three runs scored Thursday against the Royals.
EDGE Analysis
Calhoun went deep in the seventh inning against Wily Peralta to record his second home run of the season and in as many days. Earlier in the game, he had also delivered a two-RBI single to put the Rangers up 3-1. While his emergence in the big leagues has been delayed, Calhoun is making the most of his opportunity early on, recording six hits in his 12 at-bats without striking out. Playing time could be an issue for him given the Rangers' crowded outfield and designated hitter situations, but if he continues to hit, the team is likely to find a way to keep him in the lineup.

Calhoun went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run in Wednesday's 6-1 in over the Royals.
EDGE Analysis
The 24-year-old wasted no time trying to prove to the Rangers he's ready to stay in the majors for good, driving a first-inning knuckle curve from Jorge Lopez down the right-field line for his fourth career big-league homer. Calhoun was slashing .304/.416/.557 for Triple-A Nashville prior to his promotion with eight homers and a 22:19 BB:K through 32 games, but even if he continues to hit well with Texas, he could have trouble finding regular playing time in a crowded outfield/DH situation.

Calhoun was recalled from Triple-A Nashville on Wednesday, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.
EDGE Analysis
Calhoun will take the roster spot of Elvis Andrus (hamstring), who was sent to the injured list Wednesday. The 24-year-old was off to a solid start with the Sounds prior to earning a promotion, slashing .304/.416/.557 with eight homers and 22 RBI in 32 games. Calhoun is starting at DH and hitting second in Wednesday's game against the Royals, per Grant.

Calhoun went 2-for-3 with an RBI for Triple-A Nashville on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Calhoun extended his hitting streak to 15 games and pushed his batting average above .300 for the first time this season. There's still the issue of finding him a position to play in Texas' crowded outfield, but with right fielder Nomar Mazara struggling, there might be a need to call up Calhoun.

Calhoun started at second base for Triple-A Nashville on Friday and will get a couple of starts per week there going forward, T.R. Sullivan of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Calhoun was a second baseman in the Dodgers organization until he was moved to the outfield. Part of the reason for the shift to outfield was the lack of athleticism he showed while playing at 220 pounds. The Rangers feel he's in better shape and can handle infield duty now. The move could pave the way for Calhoun to reach the major-league roster in a utility role, particularly if second baseman Rougned Odor (.157/.259/.255) continues to struggle at the plate.

Calhoun reported to the Rangers' minor-league camp Saturday, Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.
EDGE Analysis
After he was informed Thursday that he wouldn't join the Rangers for Opening Day, Calhoun failed to report to the minors Friday, essentially confirming his dissatisfaction with the roster decision. Given that the 24-year-old doesn't have enough MLB service time to refuse a minor-league assignment, he wasn't really left with many alternatives beyond accepting the demotion. According to Wilson, Calhoun took batting practice Saturday and will play in a minor-league game before flying to Nashville for the start of the Triple-A season.

Calhoun, who was optioned to Triple-A Nashville on Thursday, has not yet officially reported to the minor league club, T.R. Sullivan of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Calhoun has 72 hours to report even if it's just a walk down the hall at the Rangers' spring training complex. He was obviously disappointed at the news he received Thursday, and the Rangers gave him that day off; however, he did not report Friday. The outfielder experienced similar disappointment at this time last year and let it affect his attitude in the minors. That concerns manager Chris Woodward, who does not want a repeat of what could be perceived as inappropriate behavior, which could cost Calhoun the respect of teammates.

Calhoun was sent to Triple-A Round Rock on Thursday, T.R. Sullivan of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Given his defensive limitations, Calhoun has to produce with his bat to be worthy of a roster spot. He slumped to a .557 OPS this spring. He'll likely return at some point this season, but for now Hunter Pence will beat him out for a bench spot.

Calhoun went 2-for-4 with three RBI on Tuesday against the Brewers.
EDGE Analysis
The Rangers, for a few reasons, are expected to send Calhoun to Triple-A Nashville. There's already a roster crunch with Texas considering carrying eight relievers, and Calhoun will not get everyday at-bats. Throw in his sub-par defense and the decision becomes easy. Barring Joey Gallo's groin injury lingering longer than expected and opening an outfield spot, the Rangers will get by with Hunter Pence as their fourth outfielder while Calhoun plays daily for Triple-A Nashville.
