The Angels placed Anderson on the 15-day injured list Sunday due to a left oblique strain.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran left-hander delivered five scoreless frames Friday in Houston, but that could end up being his final start of the campaign. Anderson will be eligible to be reinstated Sept. 14, but oblique injuries often require longer than 15 days of recovery time. If the 35-year-old is unable to return to the mound in 2025, he'll finish the campaign with a 4.56 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 104:57 K:BB across 136.1 innings.

Anderson allowed five hits and issued three walks while striking out one batter over five innings in a no-decision against Houston on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
Anderson made his first start in seven days, as he got some extra time off during the week while on paternity leave. The additional rest appears to have served him well -- the veteran lefty kept the Astros off the scoreboard during his five frames after pitching to a poor 6.13 ERA across his previous eight outings. Anderson should be good to make his next start on his regular schedule, so he's slated to face the Royals on the road next week.

The Angels reinstated Anderson from the paternity list prior to his start Thursday against the Astros.
EDGE Analysis
Anderson has given up four earned runs in three of his four starts since the beginning of August and remains in search of his first win since April 18. Although he's due to face an Astros offense that has posted a .655 OPS over their last 10 games, the 35-year-old southpaw should only be viewed as a last resort for fantasy managers in search of streaming options. Jack Kochanowicz was optioned to Triple-A Salt Lake in a corresponding move.

The Angels placed Anderson on the paternity list Monday.
EDGE Analysis
Anderson is currently slated to start Wednesday's game against the Rangers, but it's not clear whether he will still take the ball that day or get pushed back in the pitching schedule as he welcomes a new baby. The lefty is winless over his last 21 starts, posting a 5.25 ERA over that stretch.

Anderson didn't factor into the decision against the Cubs on Friday, allowing two runs on three hits and two walks while striking out five over five innings.
EDGE Analysis
The left-hander did well to limit the damage, with his only runs coming on a first inning solo homer from Kyle Tucker and a sacrifice fly in the third. While Anderson didn't pitch deep into the contest, he kept Los Angeles within striking distance and turned in one of his steadier outings of late. The 35-year-old had struggled over his previous six starts, posting a 6.67 ERA, 1.55 WHIP and 19:15 K:BB across 29.2 innings during that stretch, so Friday's effort represented a modest step in the right direction.

Anderson (2-8) allowed four runs on three hits and five walks while striking out one over four innings to take the loss versus the Athletics on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
Anderson essentially got skipped in the rotation when back stiffness forced him to miss his scheduled start Tuesday. He wasn't that sharp in his return to action -- he's now walked five batters in two of five starts since the All-Star break. In that span, he's surrendered 18 runs over 24.2 innings while adding just 16 strikeouts. Anderson is at a 4.77 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 98:52 K:BB through 126.1 innings over 24 starts. The southpaw is tentatively projected to make his next start at home versus the Cubs.

Anderson (back) is slated to start Saturday's game against the Athletics in Sacramento.
EDGE Analysis
Anderson was initially lined up to make his 24th start of the season during Tuesday's 7-6 loss to the Dodgers, but he was scratched ahead of the contest due to back stiffness, which has been a recurring issue for the southpaw throughout the season, according to MLB.com. A few extra days of rest was apparently all Anderson needed to at least temporarily move past the back issue, and he's not expected to face any major restrictions when he takes the hill Saturday.

Anderson has been scratched from Tuesday's scheduled start against the Dodgers due to back stiffness, Erica Weston of Bally Sports West reports.
EDGE Analysis
Anderson is presumably headed for further testing to determine if the injury will force him to the IL. Victor Mederos will be recalled to start Tuesday's game in Anderson's place.

Anderson did not factor into the decision Wednesday against the Rays, allowing four runs on five hits and a walk over four innings. He struck out five.
EDGE Analysis
Anderson was done in by the home-run ball again Wednesday -- all four of Tampa's runs off the left-hander came via the long ball, including two off the bat of Junior Caminero. Anderson's given up eight homers across 14.2 innings in his last three starts. Anderson, who remains without a win since April 18, sports a 4.63 ERA with a 1.40 WHIP and 97:47 K:BB through 23 starts (122.1 innings) this season. He's currently lined up for a tough home matchup with the Dodgers in his next outing.

Alexander (2-7) took the loss after throwing six innings, allowing four runs on five hits and two walks while striking out five, during Friday's 6-3 loss to the White Sox.
EDGE Analysis
Alexander had a solid outing, allowing just five hits and four runs, but the left-hander once again had an issue keeping the ball in the ballpark. Three of the five hits the 35-year-old allowed were home runs, and he's now allowed at least one home run in five straight starts and 23 total home runs on the season, the second-most in all of MLB behind just Zack Littell's 25 homers. Alexander is scheduled to face the Rays at home his next time out.
