May was removed from Sunday's win against Cleveland as a precautionary measure due to mild cramps in his back, Phil Miller of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
May threw 17 pitches Sunday, but he was removed in the top of the sixth inning due to his injury. However, it's unlikely that he'll miss significant time as his removal was labeled as precautionary. The right-hander carries a 5.00 ERA and 28:4 K:BB over 18 innings this season.

May struck out the side to earn the save in the second game of Friday's doubleheader against the Tigers.
EDGE Analysis
Sergio Romo pitched a scoreless seventh inning to keep the game tied, and after the Twins grabbed the lead on a Marwin Gonzalez single in the eighth, May shut the door for his second save of the season. May is throwing harder this year and ranks among the top 15 qualified relievers in strikeout percentage, but he's still clearly behind Romo and lefty Taylor Rogers in the pecking order for saves.

May recorded the save Tuesday against the Pirates by retiring the only two batters he faced. He did not have a strikeout.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander entered with one out, runners on first and second and the Twins winning 7-3, but he needed only five pitches to record the final two outs of the game. Closer Taylor Rogers has been lights out to begin the season, so May was likely called upon due to the unconventional save situation. The right-hander is off to a strong start in 2020 with one run given up through 4.2 innings and a 8:2 K:BB, two holds and 1-0 record.

May threw a scoreless inning with a strikeout and a walk in Friday's season-opening win over the White Sox.
EDGE Analysis
May showed improved velocity in the spring -- he hit a personal-high 99.8 mph on his fastball -- and looked sharp in his regular-season debut four months later. He's set for a high-leverage role in the bullpen despite being used in the fifth inning in Friday's win. Jose Berrios left after the fourth inning after a high pitch count, which got key relievers involved earlier than usual.

May set a new personal high by hitting 99.8 mph with his fastball during Grapefruit League play, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
While that was on just one pitch, Park notes that May's average fastball velocity was also up over the 96 mph he averaged in 2019. Seemingly all the Twins relievers were throwing harder this spring. Taylor Rogers will be the closer, but May is also capable of getting high-leverage outs.

May agreed to a one-year contract with Minnesota on Friday, avoiding arbitration, Brandon Warne of ZoneCoverage.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
May set a career high in appearances a season ago with the Twins, posting a 2.94 ERA and 1.07 WHIP with 79 strikeouts over 64.1 frames (65 games). He also registered 17 holds. May will be in line for high-leverage innings during the 2020 campaign.

May tossed a perfect ninth inning, striking out all three batters he faced to earn his second save of the year in Friday's 4-3 win over the Royals.
EDGE Analysis
Both Taylor Rogers and Sergio Romo had made four appearances in the last week, so May was called on for this save. He did not disappoint, whiffing Ryan O'Hearn, Whit Merrifield and Adalberto Mondesi in order. May has allowed three runs over 9.2 innings in September, right in line with his season ERA of 3.08. He's recorded a 76:25 K:BB and 15 holds in 61.1 innings this year.

May has struck out 11 batters and has given up one run on three hits and three walks across 10.1 innings in his nine appearances this month.
EDGE Analysis
The 29-year-old strong work in relief lately has seemingly allowed him to ascend in the Twins' bullpen pecking order, as he's captured holds in two of his last five outings. Touted by many observers in the spring as a prime candidate to claim the Twins' wide-open closer role, May never ultimately seized the gig, but he's at least beginning to showcase the skills that made him a sought-after commodity in fantasy drafts.

May (3-1) allowed one run over one inning but earned the win Wednesday against the Rays.
EDGE Analysis
May was actually responsible for blowing the lead in the seventh inning after giving up a solo homer to Willy Adames. He also managed to hit back-to-back batters with a pitch before escaping further damage. Luckily, Nelson Cruz smacked a two-run double to deep center field in the bottom of the frame to reclaim Minnesota's lead for good. Through 33 appearances, the 29-year-old owns a 3.62 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 26:16 K:BB.

May gave up two hits and struck out one in a scoreless ninth inning Tuesday to record his first save of the season in a 6-5 win over the Mariners.
EDGE Analysis
Considered the favorite for Minnesota's closing role at times during draft season, it took the 29-year-old over two months to finally nab his first save. Given Blake Parker's recent struggles, it's possible May could bump him aside as the primary right-hander in manager Rocco Baldelli's committee, but don't overreact to one ninth-inning assignment.
