May struck out one in a perfect seventh inning Tuesday to record his sixth hold of the season in a win over Atlanta.
EDGE Analysis
The return of Seth Lugo, who worked the eighth inning in front of closer Edwin Diaz, has pushed May down a spot in the Mets' bullpen pecking order, but the right-hander remains part of the high-leverage crew. On the season, the former Twin has a 3.45 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 38:7 K:BB through 28.2 innings with two wins and a save in addition to his holds.

May (2-2) blew an extra-inning save and was tagged with the loss Tuesday against Arizona after giving up two runs (one earned) on one hit and one walk in one-third of an inning.
EDGE Analysis
May entered the game in the bottom of the 10th inning with a one-run lead, but he was woeful on the mound and ultimately let the game slip away when Josh Reddick connected on a walkoff two-run double. May might not have too many save changes going forward based on his performances, as he's gone 1-for-3 in save chances so far.

May pitched a scoreless ninth inning, allowing just one hit to secure the save in Mets' win over the Diamondbacks on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
May picked up his first save of the 2021 campaign in his first opportunity with Edwin Diaz unavailable. May hasn't allowed any runs since his first appearance this season. Diaz is the normal closer, but May has been more consistent with a 1.46 ERA and a 0.97 WHIP in 12.1 innings. He serves as the setup man, but could be in line for more future saves down the road.

May pitched a perfect eighth inning while striking out two to secure a hold in the win against the Cardinals on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
May has been near perfect this season. He has a 1.59 ERA in 11.1 innings and his only earned runs allowed came in his first appearance this season. Edwin Diaz has been inconsistent and banged up at times, which could lead to May receiving some save opportunities in the future. The 31-year-old is the most consistent pitcher in the Mets bullpen so far this season.

May (2-1) gave up a hit in a scoreless eighth inning Saturday to get credit for the win in a 5-4 victory over the Phillies.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander kicked off his namesake month in style, as he needed only 12 pitches (eight strikes) to retire the heart of the Philly order. May was rewarded with the win when Michael Conforto launched a game-winning solo shot in the top of the ninth. May has been as advertised after signing a two-year deal in the offseason to help solidify the Mets' bullpen, and he sports a 2.16 ERA and 13:2 K:BB through his first 8.1 innings with the club.

May struck out two in a perfect eighth inning during Tuesday's loss to the Red Sox.
EDGE Analysis
Entering the game with New York down 2-1, May fanned Bobby Dalbec and Franchy Cordero to prevent Boston from extending its lead. The right-hander took the loss in a shaky season debut but hasn't given up an earned run since, posting a 9:1 K:BB over his last six innings to lower his ERA to 2.84. Should anything happen to Edwin Diaz, May is the most likely candidate to step into the closer role for the Mets.

May (0-1) was saddled with the loss Monday as the Mets fell 5-3 to the Phillies, giving up three runs (two earned) on two hits and a walk over only one-third of an inning. He struck out one.
EDGE Analysis
Entrusted with a 2-0 lead in the eighth inning in his first appearance for the Mets, May fanned Adam Haseley to begin the frame before loading the bases on two singles and a walk. The right-hander then gave way to Aaron Loup, who plunked Bryce Harper to bring home Philly's first run and get things rolling on yet another bullpen collapse that cost Jacob deGrom a win. May was expected to solidify the Mets' setup crew after posting a 3.19 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 12.2 K/9 over the prior three seasons for the Twins, but his tenure with his new club is off to an inauspicious start.

May has posted a 3.60 ERA and 5:1 K:BB through five Grapefruit League innings so far this spring.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander has looked good in the exhibition schedule to begin his tenure with the Mets. Dellin Betances and Jeurys Familia have both struggled through the early part of March, and with Seth Lugo (elbow) expected to begin the season on the IL, May figures to be the team's primary setup man in front of closer Edwin Diaz.

May agreed to a two-year, $15 million contract with the Mets on Tuesday, Andy Martino of SNY.tv reports.
EDGE Analysis
Among pitchers who threw at least 10 innings last season, May ranked 11th in K-BB% (32.3) while also logging a 3.86 ERA and 1.16 WHIP in his final year with the Twins. He has a 3.19 ERA since returning from Tommy John surgery in 2018. May joins a Mets bullpen that already features righties Edwin Diaz, Dellin Betances, Jeurys Familia, Miguel Castro and sometimes Seth Lugo, so it's not clear if he will be the go-to setup man for Diaz to start the season. He is good enough from a skills standpoint that he should get plenty of high-leverage chances.

May (back) pitched a perfect ninth inning with three strikeouts in a non-save situation in Wednesday's 5-1 win over the White Sox.
EDGE Analysis
May exited Sunday's game versus Cleveland with mild cramps in his back, but he was fine in his return Wednesday. He threw 10 of his 17 pitches for strikes to finish off 5.1 perfect innings by Minnesota relievers in the contest. In 19 innings this season, May has a 4.74 ERA, 1.26 WHIP, 31 strikeouts. He's added two saves and six holds in 19 appearances.
