Shaw (wrist) is 1-for-9 with three strikeouts over two games since beginning his rehab assignment with Triple-A San Antonio.
EDGE Analysis
It's tough to put too much stock into two games, but it would certainly be better to see Shaw succeeding at the plate given his slow start to the season with the Brewers. It's not clear how much longer Shaw will remain on his rehab assignment, but given the Brewers' crowded roster and the club's desire to get Shaw right at the plate, they won't be in any hurry to rush him back.

Shaw (wrist) is scheduled to begin a minor-league rehab assignment Wednesday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Shaw took about 75 swings in the batting cage Sunday with no issues, clearing the way for a rehab assignment. The 29-year-old doesn't figure to require too many games to return from the wrist issue given he's been out less than a week, but the team could give him a few extra games to try and sort things out before returning him to the majors.

Shaw's strained right wrist occurred on a swing in Monday's game against the Phillies, Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
EDGE Analysis
The report would seem to rule out the wrist strain as an explanation for Shaw's poor start to the season at the plate, as it apparently wasn't an issue that had been nagging him throughout the season. It's not yet clear when he's expected to get back on the field.

Shaw was placed on the 10-day injured list Tuesday with a right wrist strain.
EDGE Analysis
The wrist issue perhaps explains Shaw's .163/.266/.281 line through the first 40 games of the season. It's unclear whether Shaw is expected to miss more than the minimum 10 days on the injured list. Highly-rated prospect Keston Hiura was called up to take his place on the roster. If Hiura lives up to expectations right away, Shaw's opportunities could be limited when he returns to action, as Hiura is expected to play second base on a regular basis, pushing Mike Moustakas to third.

The Brewers are expected to place Shaw on the 10-day injured list Tuesday or option him to Triple-A San Antonio, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Rosenthal notes that Shaw is tending to a hand/wrist issue, though there had been no prior reports indicating that the 29-year-old was nursing any sort of injury. Whatever the case may be, Shaw is set to surrender his spot on the 25-man roster to top prospect Keston Hiura, who will be called up from Triple-A San Antonio and presumably step in as the team's everyday second baseman. Hiura's arrival will push Mike Moustakas to his more natural position at third, leaving no room for the struggling Shaw to receive regular at-bats. Shaw is batting just .163 with a career-worst 32.5 percent strikeout rate across 154 plate appearances this season.

Shaw is back in the lineup for Monday's game against the Phillies.
EDGE Analysis
Shaw did not start the last three games with southpaws starting all three and the Brewers trying to shake Shaw out of his season-long slump, but he will be back in there Monday against Aaron Nola and co. Shaw will man the hot corner and hit sixth in the Brewers' batting order.

Shaw is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Cubs.
EDGE Analysis
As anticipated, Shaw will remain on the bench for the third straight game with the Cubs bringing another lefty (Jon Lester) to the hill. Mike Moustakas will shift over from second base to cover Shaw's usual spot at third while Hernan Perez mans the keystone.

Shaw is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Cubs.
EDGE Analysis
It was announced Friday that Shaw would be held out of all three games this weekend in order to clear his head, so it comes as no surprise that he is not in Saturday's starting nine. Mike Moustakas will cover third base in Shaw's place, and Hernan Perez will replace Moustakas at second base.

Shaw is not in the lineup for Friday's series opener against the Cubs.
EDGE Analysis
The Cubs have three straight left-handers taking the mound this weekend, so Shaw may have at least a couple days off in the Windy City. A few days out of the lineup couldn't hurt the 29-year-old as he is 4-for-39 with one double over his last 12 games. Hernan Perez will start at second base for the Brewers while Mike Moustakas slides over to third.

Shaw sits Friday against southpaw Steven Matz and the Mets.
EDGE Analysis
Shaw has started against just four of the 10 lefties the Brewers have faced this season. Mike Moustakas will slide over to third base Friday, with Hernan Perez starting at second base.
