The Reds optioned Antone to their alternate training site Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
Antone initially made his MLB debut as a reliever after he was called up from the Reds' alternate camp July 25, but he picked up a spot start Wednesday against the Indians with Cincinnati temporarily in need of a sixth starter. Though he took the loss in the outing, Antone did well to limit Cleveland to one run on two hits and four walks while striking out four. He should rank near the top of the list for a callup in the event the Reds require another starter at any point this season.

Antone (0-1) allowed one run on two hits and four walks while striking out four over 4.1 innings in a loss to Cleveland on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
The 26-year-old showcased a good breaking ball in his first career MLB start and finished with 13 swinging strikes on 82 total pitches. Antone debuted out of the bullpen last week, allowing one run on one hit and one walk while striking out five over 4.1 innings against the Cubs. While Antone does not project for another start in the immediate future, he will almost certainly get another chance to start before the end of the season.

Antone will start Wednesday's game against the Indians, Bobby Nightengale of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Reds needed to adjust their rotation coming off the postponement and subsequent doubleheader over the weekend in Detroit, so Antone will step up for the spot start in Cleveland. The 26-year-old made his major-league debut July 27 against the Cubs and had a strong showing, allowing one run on one hit and a walk while striking out five over 4.1 innings.

Antone was strong in relief in his major league debut against the Cubs on Monday night, allowing one run on a hit (a homer) and a walk over 4.1 innings, striking out five.
EDGE Analysis
Antone even got the PitchingNinja treatment on his first strikeout, a 97 mph two-seamer. More importantly, he helped save the bullpen and earned the trust of manager of David Bell for the future.

Antone was recalled by the Reds on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
Antone didn't make the Reds' initial 30-man roster but will join the club since Tucker Barnhart (paternity) and Matt Davidson (illness) are set to miss time. The right-hander hasn't appeared in the majors yet, and if he would make his debut during his stint in the bullpen, it'd likely be in a low-leverage situation.

Antone will be a part of the Reds' 60-man player pool this season.
EDGE Analysis
A member of the 40-man roster, Antone logged a 4.65 ERA, 1.73 WHIP and 70 strikeouts in 71.2 innings at Triple-A last year. He has yet to make his big-league debut, and if he does reach the majors this season, it would likely be as a low-leverage reliever.

Antone was reaching 97 mph in spring training games this year before he got sent to the Reds' minor-league camp, Bobby Nightengale of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
EDGE Analysis
Antone was working in the 88-92 mph range last year. He worked on trying to improve his velocity over the winter at APEC, a company located in Forth Worth, Texas, but didn't really see the improved results until getting into game action in spring training.

Antone was among the Reds first 11 spring training cuts Tuesday, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports. Others sent to the Reds' minor league camp include David Carpenter, Ryan Hendrix, Nick Lodolo, Tony Santillan, Josh Smith, Chris Okey, Jonathan India, Blake Trahan, Stuart Fairchild and Boog Powell.
EDGE Analysis
None of these cuts qualify as a surprise, though there was a smidgen of a chance that Antone or Smith could have won the last bullpen spot. But this is one of the annual landmarks of spring training - players getting sent down that don't have much of a chance of making the Opening Day roster. Antone could still be in line for a midseason call-up after getting promoted to the 40-man roster in November.
