Matz will likely have his next start pushed back to Thursday due to right side stiffness, Adam Rubin of ESPN New York reports.
EDGE Analysis
Details are still relatively scarce, but GM Sandy Alderson suggested Tuesday that the issue may be related to how Matz slept overnight. Manager Terry Collins was cryptic when talking about Matz's status Tuesday, saying Bartolo Colon may be a postseason starter "by default," but the team clarified that it still expects Matz to be on the NLDS roster. The injury is not believed to be at all related to the left lat issue Matz dealt with earlier this year.

Matz struck out eight without a walk, but allowed three runs on 10 hits in 5.2 innings in a no-decision against the Reds on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
Nine of the hits were singles, as the Reds kept finding gaps against Matz despite shining work from the young lefty. In terms of hits and runs allowed, this was the worst start of Matz's young career, which should highlight just how good he's looked in his first six career outings. He gets a tasty matchup against the Phillies his next time out.

Matz allowed just one run on seven hits, walking one and striking out four over six innings of a 5-1 win against the Yankees on Friday night.
EDGE Analysis
Matz (4-0, 1.80 ERA) turned in another gem, albeit he still wasn't as efficient as you would like to see. He needed 102 pitches (67 for strikes) to cover the six innings, but he issued just one walk and kept the ball in the park - the two areas he has struggled with a bit in his young big league career. The Mets feeling it, and their young starting pitchers, including Matz, are front and center in their push to the playoffs.

Matz (3-0) tossed five innings, giving up one run on six hits and two walks while striking out two in Friday's win over Atlanta.
EDGE Analysis
Matz delivered another short and sweet start in his encore performance since rejoining the big-league club. His 1.88 ERA and 8.25 K/9 ratio in his four starts look very, very appealing for those looking for a September call-up to help lead a playoff push. There are two red flags on Matz's short resume, however. He's averaging 3.38 BB/9 to go with 1.5 HR/9 in his brief tenure in the league. It'll be hard for Matz to continue his success if those rates continue.

Matz (finger) has been confirmed as the starting pitcher for Friday's game against the Braves.
EDGE Analysis
Matz left his left start after developing a blister on one of his fingers, but the setback will not prevent him from making his scheduled start Friday. He will take on a Braves team that has won just two games in September.

Matz, who left Sunday's game in the sixth inning due to a blister on his left middle finger, threw a 25-pitch bullpen session Wednesday, after which he said the blister was a non-issue and he should start Friday, ESPN New York reports.
EDGE Analysis
Matz said after Sunday's game that he gets blisters in humid weather, which was the condition in Miami. The humidity causes the skin to soften up but that the issue has significantly healed since Sunday, enabling him to make his next start.

Matz allowed two runs on four hits and two walks while striking out six over 5.1 innings, but received no decision Sunday against Miami.
EDGE Analysis
Matz pitched well, but was forced from the game with a blister on his left middle finger after throwing just 81 pitches. He left with a 2-1 lead before the bullpen gave up a pair of late runs to cost him a chance at the victory. He has now made three starts on the season, and has an impressive 1.89 ERA along with a 0.95 WHIP. His next start will be Saturday at Atlanta, provided his blister has healed sufficiently.

Matz left Sunday's game due to a blister on his left middle finger, Adam Rubin of ESPN New York reports.
EDGE Analysis
Matz left the game after just 81 pitches, cashing in 5.1 innings of two-run ball and six strikeouts. If the score holds, the rookie pitcher will be in line for the victory. Consider him day-to-day in advance of his next start.

Contrary to a previous report, Matz will return to the mound Sunday in Miami, ESPN New York's Adam Rubin reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Mets released their starters for the weekend and Bartolo Colon will get the ball Saturday with Matz closing out the series against the Marlins. The Mets are skipping Noah Syndergaard this week, but Matz will likely remain a part of the Mets' rotation over the rest of the season to help rest Syndergaard and Matt Harvey.
