Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said Wednesday that Vogt has yet to report to spring training due to a positive COVID-19 test result, Zach Buchanan of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Lovullo didn't indicate whether Vogt was experiencing any symptoms of the virus, but in any event, he'll remain in quarantine until he clears all COVID-19-related protocols. Assuming he's able to make a full recovery ahead of Opening Day, Vogt projects to serve as the Snakes' No. 2 catcher behind Carson Kelly.

EDGE Analysis
Vogt will sit for a second consecutive game in Tuesday's series opener against the Dodgers. Carson Kelly will start at catcher.

Vogt is not in the lineup Sunday against the Giants.
EDGE Analysis
Vogt and Carson Kelly have alternate starts behind the plate over the past five games, and that trend continues after Vogt started Saturday and went 0-for-3 with one strikeout.

Arizona manager Torey Lovullo said Vogt and starter Carson Kelly will have an even split behind the plate, Steve Gilbert of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Vogt started Friday, his fifth start in the last seven games, but the manager envisions a more equitable split going forward. "It's going to probably flatten out and be 50/50," Lovullo said. "I just was sorting through that and going through some of the matchups that I liked, and I think there's a lot of familiarity between a pitcher and a catcher that works for both. So, I'll try to continue those relationships, but I also have to be mindful of offensive matchups, and I want to put our catchers in the best position to have a good offensive game as well." Vogt is slashing .188/.250/.406, which is slightly better than Kelly's .167/.268/.278.

Vogt went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a sacrifice fly in Saturday's 3-2 win over the Padres.
EDGE Analysis
Vogt tied the game by knocking in Starling Marte with a sacrifice fly in the fourth inning. Vogt then added a critical insurance run with his sixth-inning solo shot. It was his first homer of the year, to go with four RBI, two runs scored and a .250 batting average in eight games.

Vogt went 0-for-2 with two strikeouts in Saturday's 5-1 loss to the Padres.
EDGE Analysis
Vogt was the batterymate for Robbie Ray, but it's uncertain if he's a personal catcher for the left-hander. He was the lone change in the lineup from the first to the second game, replacing Carson Kelly, and batted seventh in the order before he was pinch hit for by Kevin Cron in the seventh inning. Kelly is expected to catch the bulk of games this season.

Vogt is expected to serve as the top backup to starter Carson Kelly, Steve Gilbert of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Diamondbacks submitted four catchers to the player pool with Kelly and Vogt the expected duo that sticks on the active roster. Vogt had a career-best .804 OPS in 2019 and whacked double-digit home runs for a fourth consecutive season. Prospect Daulton Varsho and veteran John Hicks are also in summer camp.

Vogt is considered a lock to make the Diamondbacks' roster, Steve Gilbert of MLB.com reports. He batted .391 (9-for-23) with four extra-base hits and three runs scored over eight spring appearances.
EDGE Analysis
Vogt has managed double-digit home runs each of his last four seasons, but he may not get a similar number of plate appearances. He's expected to serve as the backup to Carson Kelly and has experience with staff ace Madison Bumgarner, with whom he played in 2019 as a member of the Giants.

Vogt was behind the plate for Madison Bumgarner's start Thursday and went 1-for-2 in a loss to the Reds.
EDGE Analysis
Vogt played in San Francisco last season with Bumgarner, so having him catch Arizona's ace was likely due to the pair's familiarity. Bumgarner has stated that he doesn't require a personal catcher and would be comfortable throwing to anyone, including the Diamondbacks' starting catcher, Carson Kelly. It could work out that Vogt catches the majority of his games, though, as Arizona manager Torey Lovullo will be careful not to put too much work on Kelly.

Vogt signed a one-year contract with the Diamondbacks on Tuesday, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 35-year-old hit .263/.314/.490 with 10 home runs and 40 RBI over 99 games with the Giants in 2019. He should play a sizable role for the Diamondbacks next season after Carson Kelly struggled behind the plate last year.
