Mariners placed RHP Stephen Pryor on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to March 21, with a lat injury. Pryor underwent major lat surgery last August and is still in recovery mode. The Mariners are hoping he'll be ready to join their bullpen by mid-summer.

Stephen Pryor pitched a perfect inning in a Triple-A appearance Saturday. It was Pryor's first appearance since lat surgery last August. He needed just 11 pitches to get through the inning, touching 93 mph. Pryor should be a factor in the Mariners' bullpen sometime this season.

Stephen Pryor (lat) will appear in a minor league game Saturday. It will be his first game action since last August's surgery to re-attach his right lat. Pryor is starting to make some real progress but isn't expected to be an option for the Mariners' bullpen until a couple months into the season.

Stephen Pryor (lat) threw 25 pitches in a successful bullpen session on Friday. The 24-year-old hurler was a bit rusty, but was able to mix in all of his pitches and exhibited good life on his fastball. He isn't expected to be ready to rejoin the Mariners bullpen until a few months into the regular season.

Stephen Pryor (lat) is close to Cactus League action. Pryor has been taking a cautious approach this spring as he recovers from major lat surgery. The right-handed reliever is expected to miss the first few months of the 2014 regular season. He owns a 2.97 ERA and 10.1 K/9 in 30 1/3 career major league frames.

Stephen Pryor (lat) threw his fourth bullpen session of the spring on Tuesday in Mariners camp. Pryor is making slow but steady progress in his recovery from major lat surgery. "We're going very slow and deliberate and that's on purpose," said manager Lloyd McClendon. "We're not going to rush this young man. He's throwing good, he feels good. But we need to get that velocity up where it needs to be for him to be the dominant guy we know he can be. You just can't rush the process." Pryor is expected to miss the first few months of the 2014 regular season.

Stephen Pryor (lat) will throw a bullpen session Sunday. It will be his first since undergoing lat surgery last year. The Mariners have previously said they weren't expecting Pryor for several months into the season, but manager Lloyd McClendon said Sunday that the reliever is ahead of schedule. Still, he's obviously got a long way to go.

Stephen Pryor (lat) is currently limited to long-toss and doing fielding drills. It's not clear when Pryor, who was limited to just seven appearances with the Mariners last season, will be cleared to throw off a mound. Team trainer Rob Nodine said last month that the reliever likely won't be ready until several months into the season.

Mariners trainer Rob Nodine said Thursday that he doesn't expect Stephen Pryor (lat) to be game-ready until several months into the season. Pryor is recovering slowly from last August's surgery that involved his right lat being re-attached. He just recently resumed throwing and will be brought along slowly. "There's been very few of these injuries that have been surgically repaired," Nodine said. "A lot will depend on when he ramps up his throwing program and gets off the mound. Hopefully it will be somewhere around the end of May, we're guessing, but we'll see how that goes. We're not going to hold him to a timetable, just because we want to see how this progresses."
