Drew went 0-for-3 in Monday's Opening Day loss to the Blue Jays.
Drew is coming off of the most disappointing season of his career, slashing .162/.237/.299 in 85 games with both the Yankees and Red Sox in 2014, but was re-signed and named the team's starting second baseman. Both Brendan Ryan and Jose Pirela sustained injuries in spring training, temporarily eliminating some of Drew's competition, but manager Joe Girardi acknowledged that they may look at alternative options should the 32-year-old struggle again this season.

Drew will be the team's starting second baseman this season, ESPN New York reports.
Drew re-signed with the Yankees on a one year deal, but with prospects Jose Pirela and Rob Refsnyder impressing in the lower ranks, it wasn't a foregone conclusion that he'd be the Opening Day starter. Last season was the worst of his career, as he slashed just .162/.237/.299 splitting time with the Red Sox and Yankees. Given his struggles, manager Joe Girardi acknowledged "if anyone were to struggle, we would probably make a change," so either Pirela or Refsnyder could be candidates to replace Drew at some point this season.

Drew has agreed to sign a one-year deal with the Yankees, CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports.
The deal will be worth close to $5 million, with incentives that could bring it up to $7 million. Prior to the deal to bring back Drew, the Yankees were probably looking at Robert Refsnyder being the starting second baseman, so it is understandable that the Yankees wanted to add some depth at the keystone. Drew will also be able to play some shortstop, but Didi Gregorious figures to get the majority of the work there. Last season was a disaster for Drew, as he was unable to sign with a team before the start of the season, and ended up posting a .162 average with seven home runs in 300 plate appearances. However, a lot of that was bad luck, as he posted a .194 BABIP. His batting average should rebound closer to his .256 career average, but he is unlikely to add much in terms of counting stats.

Drew is not in the lineup Wednesday against the Rays, MLB.com's Bryan Hoch reports.
Drew will sit out for the third time in five games, with Brendan Ryan stepping in at second base. After his delayed start to the season following his inability to sign a contract during the offseason, Drew has never rounded into form. He's batting a woeful .156/.236/.291 over 237 at-bats this season, and be in store for another winter where he has difficulty finding work.

Drew is out of the lineup Saturday against the Royals.
Drew has been playing a lot lately, but considering he is hitless in his last 14 at-bats and Martin Prado is over his sore hamstring, Drew could start seeing less playing time down the stretch.

Drew has continued to struggle since moving from the Red Sox to the Yankees, hitting just .167 since the trade. After getting a late start to his season, Drew is hitting a cumulative .173 with six home runs in 191 at-bats.

Drew is out of the lineup Sunday against the White Sox, MLB.com's Bryan Hoch reports.
The Yankees will stock up heavily on right-handed bats with Chris Sale on the mound for the White Sox, with several key regulars taking a seat as a result. Drew, Jacoby Ellsbury, Brian McCann and Brett Gardner will all find themselves out of the lineup Sunday, with Brendan Ryan, Ichiro Suzuki, Francisco Cervelli and Zelous Wheeler manning their respective positions.

Drew is out of the Yankees' lineup Saturday against the Rays, Newsday's Erik Boland reports.
Martin Prado will draw the start at second base Saturday with Carlos Beltran returning to right field, pushing Drew to the bench after eight straight starts. The move from Boston to the Bronx did little to ignite Drew's bat, as he's hit just .170/.204/.255 in 13 games since joining the Yankees.

Stephen Drew went 2-for-4 with a homer and four RBI against the Blue Jays on Monday.
Drew had five RBI in 99 at-bats before nearly doubling his season total today. He's 7-for-17 with three extra-base hits and four walks in his last five games. We're not ready to suggest picking him up in mixed leagues, but the idea is not nearly so far fetched as it was a couple of weeks ago.
