Kelley was traded from the Nationals to the Athletics on Sunday, Jerry Crasnick of ESPN.com reports. It's unclear as to what Washington is receiving in exchange for the 34-year-old reliever.
EDGE Analysis
Kelley was designated for assignment Wednesday after an outburst in a mop-up appearance against the Mets, and he cleared waivers prior to the trade. Despite this, he's served as a reliable arm out of the bullpen through 35 outings in 2018, owning a 3.34 ERA and 0.96 WHIP with 32 strikeouts across 32.1 innings.

The Nationals designated Kelley for assignment Wednesday, Mark Zuckerman of MASN Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
Kelley was one of the few players on the Nationals roster that didn't revel in the team's 25-4 win over the Mets on Tuesday, as he was summoned for mop-up duty in the ninth inning and gave up three runs on four hits while visibly showing his frustration with the home-plate umpire. Despite the poor outing, Kelley still maintains a 3.34 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 32:5 K:BB across 32.1 innings, so it's fairly surprising to see the Nationals remove him from the 40-man roster. Many teams will likely be interested in prying away Kelley from the Nationals via trade or through a waiver claim.

Kelley has a 1.76 ERA, 0.65 WHIP and 14:2 K:BB in 15.1 innings since the beginning of June.
EDGE Analysis
He still isn't seeing work in particularly high-leverage situations -- he has only one win, one blown save and zero holds in those 15 appearances -- but Kelley has helped solidify the middle of the Nats' bullpen in recent weeks. With Ryan Madson struggling during that same period, though, Kelley's recent form may allow him to work his way into the setup crew behind eighth-inning man Kelvin Herrera.

Kelley (elbow) was activated from the 10-day disabled list Monday, Chelsea Janes of The Washington Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
As expected, Kelley will return from injury to provide relief for the Nationals bullpen. He wasn't overly effective early on in the season, allowing three home runs in six innings pitched. Nonetheless, he'll rejoin the big-league relief corps, sending Rafael Bautista to the minors.

Kelley (elbow) tossed a scoreless inning in Sunday's rehab appearance and expects to be activated prior to Monday's game in San Diego, Chelsea Janes of The Washington Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Kelley was placed on the DL back on April 24 due to "ulnar nerve irritation," but has progressed through a routine rehab free of setbacks. With Sunday's performance instilling confidence that the elbow is OK, look for a roster move activating the reliever in the very near future.

Kelley (elbow) will head to High-A Potomac on Sunday to begin a rehab assignment, Jorge Castillo of The Washington Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
He threw 36 pitches in a bullpen session Friday without any issues, and if all goes well Sunday, Kelley thinks he should be able to join the Nats when they kick off a road trip Monday in San Diego. Manager Dave Martinez wouldn't commit to a firm return date for the right-hander, but it appears likely he'll be back in the bullpen early next week.

Kelley (elbow) thinks he'll be ready to come off the disabled list when eligible Friday, Jamal Collier of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran reliever has been dealing with nerve irritation in his elbow and last pitched April 23, but he's been throwing and doesn't feel like he'll need a rehab assignment before rejoining the Nats bullpen, Given Kelley's extensive injury history, however, don't be surprised if the team takes a more cautious approach with him before adding him back to the middle relief corps. Kelley has a 4.50 ERA in six innings over eight games this season thanks to three solo home runs allowed, but also a much more palatable 1.00 WHIP and 9:0 K:BB.

Kelley (elbow) played catch Friday, Chelsea Janes of The Washington Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
This comes as somewhat of a surprise, as Kelley landed on the disabled list just three days ago with nerve irritation in his elbow. It's unclear how this impacts his timetable for return, but things should clear up as he ramps up his throwing again.

Kelley was placed on the disabled list with ulnar nerve irritation Tuesday, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Kelley has had two Tommy John surgeries already, so issues with his elbow are even more worrisome than they are for most pitchers. There hasn't yet been word on the timeline for this particular issue, however. In his first six innings of the 2018 season, the 33-year-old has allowed three runs on six hits, striking out nine without walking any batters.

Kelley has been diagnosed with ulnar nerve irritation in his throwing elbow and is expected to wind up on the disabled list, Jorge Castillo of The Washington Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran reliever's medical history is headlined by two Tommy John surgeries, but he's had plenty of other DL stints as well -- including four in the last 13 months. For the moment, Kelley will attempt to correct this latest issue with rest, but it wouldn't be a surprise if he ended up on the shelf for a lot longer than the minimum 10 days.
