Kelley was placed on the 10-day injured list Thursday due to an infection.
EDGE Analysis
This helps explain why Kelley was bypassed for a save opportunity Wednesday. Specifics regarding the issue are not yet known, leaving his return date up in the air; the move is retroactive to Monday, so the right-hander will be eligible to return in one week (May 16), should he ultimately prove ready. Wei-Chieh Huang was recalled from Triple-A Nashville to take Kelley's spot on the roster, while Chris Martin looks to be the team's primary ninth-inning option for the time being.

Kelley threw a perfect ninth inning against the Blue Jays on Saturday en route to his second save of the season.
EDGE Analysis
The 35-year-old seemed like the obvious replacement after Jose Leclerc was temporarily removed from the closer role, and sure enough, Kelley got the ball in the ninth with the Rangers leading 8-5. He retired the side in order on eight pitches to preserve the win for starter Lance Lynn. Leclerc struck out two in a perfect seventh inning, which qualifies as a step toward getting right, but Kelley would appear to have at least a small window to contribute in the saves category.

Kelley is a top option for save chances after Jose Leclerc was removed from the closer role, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.
EDGE Analysis
Manager Chris Woodward told MLB Network Radio that Leclerc will be used in lower-leverage spots for the time being in an effort to get him "back on track" after Leclerc blew another save Tuesday night. Kelley was one of two names mentioned by Woodward as a possible replacement, along with Chris Martin. Kelley has been brilliant so far this season with a 1.50 ERA, 0.75 WHIP and 11:0 K:BB in 12 innings, while Martin has given up three homers in his 11.1 innings. The 35-year-old Kelley also has some past closing experience, having saved 15 games from 2014-2017.

Kelley struck out the only batter he faced to earn his first save in Sunday's win over Texas.
EDGE Analysis
Kelley came in with the bases loaded and two outs in the ninth inning and struck out Robinson Chirinos to finish off the game. Jose Leclerc couldn't get the job done but manager Chris Woodward said after the game that he's still the team's closer. Kelley owns a 1.80 ERA in 10 innings and could take over the closer job soon if Leclerc can't settle things down.

Kelley (3-0) allowed a hit over 1.2 scoreless innings in Saturday's 9-4 win over Houston.
EDGE Analysis
Kelley claimed his third relief win of the season after starter Adrian Sampson was unable to get out of the fifth inning. The Rangers were up, 6-2, when Kelley entered the game and left after they tacked on another three runs. This marked the 11th time a Texas starter has failed to cover five innings. The 35-year-old right-hander has a 1.86 ERA and 8:0 K:BB over 9.2 innings.

Kelley (2-0) allowed one hit and struck out one over 1.1 innings in Tuesday's 6-4 win over the Astros.
EDGE Analysis
This is the second time in as many games that Kelley was the pitcher of record when the Rangers staged a late-inning rally. That's so unlike the Rangers of a year ago; they went 16-87 in games where they trailed or were tied after six innings. With several members of the rotation coming back from injury, Texas' starters may depart games early and give its middle relievers an opportunity for wins.

Kelley (1-0) struck out one over a scoreless 1.1 innings to pick up the win in Saturday's 8-6 victory over the Cubs.
EDGE Analysis
Kelly was one of two Texas relievers to pitch multiple innings in relief of Edinson Volquez, who lasted just four innings. Three of Texas' rotation members are coming off Tommy John elbow surgery, so the Rangers have stacked the bullpen with guys capable of throwing multiple innings in case starters can't get deep into games. Kelley has appeared in each of the two games the Rangers have played thus far.

Kelley will be part of the Rangers' bullpen to start the season, T.R. Sullivan of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Kelley was slated to make the roster when he signed with the team in January, but this just makes it official. The 34-year-old right-hander did not get a ton of work in during spring training, throwing 3.2 scoreless innings over four appearances, but should find himself in the back end of the bullpen after posting a 2.94 ERA for Washington and Oakland last season.

Kelley signed a one-year, $2.5 million contract with the Rangers on Monday, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The deal includes a club option for 2020, per Passan. Kelley split time between Washington and Oakland in 2018, posting a combined 2.94 ERA, 0.90 WHIP and 50:11 K:BB across 49 innings of relief. The veteran reliever should slide into the back-end of Texas' bullpen, though his fantasy value remains limited with no clear path to saves.

Kelley has been unavailable the last few games due to a finger laceration, Jane Lee of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Kelley hasn't pitched since Aug. 29, but it's not clear when exactly he sustained the laceration. The veteran right-hander has allowed only two hits and a walk over 8.2 scoreless innings since joining the A's at the start of August. It doesn't appear to be a long-term issue, but Kelley may not be available until after Thursday's scheduled off day.
